Sleeping Partners is a "fictional" story about the goings on of a small village, centered around the local pub and all the patrons and villagers lives within it.
Set in Scotland in the early 80's there are some fun references to popular cultural of that time.

I particularly liked the main protagonist Jen Cameron and her inner strength when faced with some very difficult life events. She seemed to keep calm and carry on with sheer determination.

The village gossip and extra martial affairs that occur were like something from a Jilly Cooper novel and the opening scene with the pool table is a fun way to enter the town of Duneden and doesn't disappoint in this regard.

Having grown up in a small village in Fife, with a local pub at the heart of it this book felt very familiar to me! Sometimes the author (who I know) had me questioning what was fictional and what was semi autobiographical!

It was a great fun read, with a reassuring ending and I'm very happy for Jen and her new life.

Another cracking read Faye!

Great characters and superbly described settings.

Having grown up living above pubs & restaurants in the 80s & early 90s I felt very much at home at The Maltings - I could even smell the ashtrays!

Looking forward to the next one…
