I'm not sure how to feel about this book. The concept of putting zombies into The Secret Garden was interesting, and I was intrigued by it in spite of myself. Parts of the book were very entertaining Kick-Butt Zombie Hunter Martha for the WIN! . However, it all felt very bizarre especially since it read, for the most part, like Burnett's original novel except with zombies randomly inserted into her prose.

There were aspects of the zombie plot-line itself that didn't make a whole lot of sense How could Colin's mother giving birth to him as she was changing into a zombie(?) make him half-zombie? How can somebody even be half-zombie? Wouldn't the zombie half eventually overtake the human half? And back to Colin's zombie mom...was she crawling her way out of the ground for 10 years to suddenly attack at the end of the book? I'm so confused about where she even came from! , and its resolution was completely ridiculous and not to mention gross How was Colin and Mary kissing somehow the cure to zombie apocalypse? And more importantly, WHY? They're first cousins; I didn't need to see that!

I can't give it a whole lot of points for quality but 2 stars for creativity and entertainment value!
