Terry is a very clever turtle. He plans to prove just how clever he is by flying. But when Polly the chimp laughs at Terry’s plans, he is more determined than ever. So Terry enlists the help of a parrot. With the parrot doing all the work, Terry is able to fly by holding onto a twig that the parrot clutches in his claws. However, rather than being impressed the other animals mock Terry for looking silly. Terry’s indignant response quickly changes his situation from good to bad.
This title is an early reader with short simple sentences. The story is engaging with an implied lesson on arrogance and taking one’s self too seriously. Cartoonish illustrations capture the animated expressions and silly antics of each character. Young readers will be attracted to the vibrant colors and easy to follow storyline.
