I want to start out by saying I am very, very cautious about what I read. I only read nonfiction Christian books, but moreso, I only read those which are strictly and absolutely, firmly, grounded in the Bible. Meaning the author doesn’t add to, or take away, from God’s eternal word. Which many do. After reading this book, I am adoring every page, and totally impressed.

First off, Shelley gives ample Bible references throughout, nearly every page, often many per page, you’ll find total scriptures and passages from the Bible. I love how she doesn’t read into the Bible or give her own interpretation with only a verse or two to back up what she’s saying. These days so many can easily make those who are not that knowledgeable about the Bible stray away from the truth. But this book proves it definitely is biblical, and leaves you confident and reassured that what you’re reading is the truth.

The next thing I love, is it has not only the stories from the Bible as examples, but modern stories as well. For years I wondered, how can you take what was written thousands of years ago and apply it to your life today? Shelley did a beautiful job doing exactly that. Each chapter she first gives the Biblical story, then a modern story, and pairs them together. And it really helps you apply that Biblical teaching to your own life.

Also the prayers, I love the prayers. Sometimes I am just not sure exactly what to pray, or fear I might leave something out. There are prayers at the end of each chapter where you can pray yourself, that are so insightful, personal, and spoken right from the heart. Each prayer I prayed just made the entire day’s chapter blossom, and come to life.

All in all, it almost feels like Shelley is holding your hand through the entire book, guiding you, teaching you, identifying with you. For me this is imperative. I’m always, constantly, seeking out how to grow with the Lord, mature, and root myself even deeper in Him. Though Shelley is female, so women can identify with her, she also gives stories and examples about and told from men as well. This book is exactly what I needed, and something that can really change your life, and your walk with the Lord, your spiritual growth and maturity. Definitely a book that you can reread over and over again and get something new out of it every time. You must read this book, for yourself, and get a few for those you love too!

I was provided this book by Body and Soul Publishing in exchange for my review.

This book was an easy read. It is broken down into bite-sized chunks that you can easily digest in about 15 minutes each. Plus, the author writes in a pleasant conversational style. This is evident as early as the Introduction, where she comes across as talking with you in a personal and vulnerable way. She invites the reader to go on the journey together with her, which sets the tone for the whole book.

The book follows a consistent pattern in its structure. Each day’s reading can be outlined as: an introductory narrative; a faith challenge; a prayer of faith; and a story of faith. There is an ample amount of Scripture included so that you know she’s not inventing her own ideas or taking things out of context. There are also several pointers to other resources that can be found on the Web.

I found many of the analogies presented in the book to be quite helpful. For example, comparing faith to the title deed of a house that was bought sight-unseen. Or the comparison of worry to a hand grenade.

This was a pleasant book to read. The only parts that left me “flat” were the stories of faith. These stories tell the (true) tales of some sort of crisis, an exercise of faith, and a happy resolution of the crisis. At least from my personal experience, not all crises end with a happy resolution.

I would recommend “A Life of Faith” as a good, thought-provoking book – if not a life-changing one. It’s a good and easy read, is chock-full of truths, and very uplifting over all.

This book is the same as all the other faith books

They help but I knew new content. If I want to read it over i would just go back to what I've already read. Glad this time I didn't buy it and I used kindle unlimited

" A Life of Faith: 21 Days to Overcoming Fear and Doubt" by Shelley Hitz is a 21 day devotional guiding the reader to have more faith in God. Each day opens with scripture and an introductory story with the writer telling a personal experience of stepping out in faith. There is a Faith Challenge where the reader is given a homework of journal writing or discussion to meet the point of that day. It is followed by prayer, usually told with a particular biblical person in mind. Finally there is a Story of Faith. This is different writers stories of their stepping out in faith. Scripture is sprinkled throughout the entire devotion.

I like to do a devotion every morning to keep in the practice of talking to God and learning about his word. This devotion does the job. I especially liked how Hitz incorporated other authors in the Story of Faith to keep the devotion exciting and tell Faith through a different view. I liked this devotion. I recommend it for a daily exercise. I received this e-book through www.bodyandsoulpublishing.com

An "easy" read is most certainly a compliment in this case. Shelley writes as if she is a very good friend, understanding your struggles with fear and doubt. It contains scripture references, as well as stories of biblical faith. Each day also offers a story of faith from "today" about real people and events. An opportunity for journaling if you desire simply add to the practical aspect of this study. While it would most certainly be a recommendation for those currently struggling, it is a great reminder and confirmation for those that have been through a "crisis of faith" recently or in the past. The reality of our Christian walk and struggles..no matter how long we have been believers...is addressed in this book in such an honest way. Shelley writes from her heart, and I believe the heart of God.

I was given an advanced copy so that I might give an honest review..of which it was a pleasure.

This is a devotional bases very closely on scripture, which is used throughout the entire book. But what made it into a great devotional for me was the personal stories of Shelley and her husband, or sometimes others, that closely related to the scripture they had just used. She uses the scriptures and applies them to real life issues that they have had to deal with. Her opinion does not replace the biblical truths, which I loved. I struggle to be faithful to reading because I always feel so busy, but I looked forward to reading this devotional. I actually read two days in one setting a couple of times... Shelley Hitz will be an author to keep your eye out for!

A Life of Faith is a book that should be read at least once a year. The different challenges, prayers and stories connected well and was meaningful in everyday life.

Reading it, I know that I wanted to stop on each day and do the daily faith challenge.

A Life of Faith 21 Days to Overcoming Fear and Doubt is a must have.
