A powerful time potion has given Clarissa, a modern college student, the opportunity to travel back to the year 1861. Life in the Victorian era is far more difficult than Clarissa anticipated. Her modern thinking impedes her ability to fit in with the past. Everything goes wrong, until a chance encounter with the handsome, George Laurent, changes everything. Although George is already engaged to be married, he is captivated by Clarissa's untimely demeanor, and a passionate romance ensues. With her days in the past quickly running out, will Clarissa find a way to transcend the barrier of time?
Overall this book made a great love story of how the heroine and hero came together regardless of the obstacles that were put in their path. The author placed the story in a beautiful historical town in South Texas and brought to life rich history. I will not give information because I don't want to give away any spoilers.
What I loved: The male character was swoon worthy and written like a man is supposed to be but doesn't exist anymore. The bravery and shivery of the soldier the author described only made him more desirable. History is always good especially with the details the author provided. The female character showed determination even with the hand she was dealt with. I laughed on the parts where she was adjusting with the clothes from the past. There were some unanswered questions that I hope the author will answer in future work but it didn't end in a cliffhanger. Can not wait for another story from this author.
