Running out on Kemah because of her betrayal and joining the ranks of the United States Navy, may not have been the smartest decision Brennan Trellis had ever made, but it was the best he could do on short notice. He found that his heart was safer at sea than it ever was on land. As far as he was concerned it was the only way to stay away from the conniving, coldhearted opposite sex. Women left a trail of destruction in their wake and Kemah McGovern was the ring leader. After 5 long years and a permanent injury that received him a medical and honorable discharge, Brennan returned home to Napa California. Soon after, he began dating the local women but he still had his hang-ups about them, only this time he wouldn't allow himself to get burned. Every woman he dated, and he dated plenty, was the very opposite of Kemah. Fair skin, tall and pencil thin, anything to keep the memories away. Or at least that's what he had hoped. The past always has a way of catching up with you as Brennan later found out. His memories of their love weren't just memories, and trying to fight it, he discovered, was far more challenging than fighting the enemy in the Gulf.

Sequel to Come Share My Love.

I'm a straight up kinda gal so I don't get all the endless years of untruths and misunderstandings that just go on and on and on...in truth they frustrate the hell out of me.



WARNING SPOILERS AHEAD...


Brennan's back in Kemah's orbit still believing the lies his best friend at the time told him about her seven long years ago! Seven bloody years and a few seconds according to Kemah at one point. Over and over she protests her innocence to his face, in front of her family and friends but still he stubbornly refuses to believe her. Why? Oh I know why. It's the stiff unyielding backbone of this story.

29 year old virgins should be as extinct as wooly mammoths in this day and age but I've read of two 'nearly thirty' virgins in the last month (I sure hope its not a developing trend) and I made a similar comment in that review too. As for the one sex scene? The man's a mess and mixed up big time and unfortunately this stalls an otherwise potentially good sex scene, of course its not helped by her goading him on past the point of no return. But love it, hate it or be totally ambivalent about this scene at least it stopped the foolishness of the last seven years and brought it all to an end.

Mama V reflects on how her and Big Zack (Brennan's parents) got married relating the story in flashback to Kemah...but...confusingly that story continued in the same vein as the rest of the novella, there was no very clear boundary to separate the flashback to the present tense until a little further on. And that's not all, the POVs would suddenly change mid paragraphs and without warning.

Kemah to Brennan. "No! Shut the hell up for once and listen to me. After tomorrow, you will never have to see me again, because I will not be back until my babies are born. I will be here for them and you cannot do a damn thing about it..." Huh? What babies? It would take immaculate conception for Kemah to be pregnant during this announcement so she must be talking about her future or I'll continue to remain confused.

I find it less than amusing that Brennan's out doing his thing with other women or was and yet he rants and raves calling Kemah a slut based on what he thinks he knows. Typically boring double standards that a lot of authors continue to hand out to their male characters.

Unnecessary in my view to read Come Share My Love unless of course you want to know the back story of Brennan's brother Zachary and his rocky road to love.

It had potential to be a lot better than it was. What this novella is in desperate need of is an editor and a proofreader.

Another good read from this author. Although I wish it was a bit longer. It told the story in a direct and concise way, there was no beating around the bush here. That Brennan I really wanted to give him a good smack, but clearly he and Kemah had something really powerful going on. Their confrontations were fierce and their coupling was even stronger. This read was a real emotional roller coaster and I found myself tearing up on quite a few scenes. I am loving this authors writing style and will have to add her to the list of my faves.

We're do we go from here...ok read

This story of Kemah and Brennan was an ok read. It had some parts I did not care for or believed were realistic, but, you'll have to read to see...hint...their first romantic encounter. It just had so much going on over the course of many years. it was long. I still believe it was a good attempt but fell short for me with events that would not happen in real life. I know it's fiction, but romance imitates life. This did not do it for me. it was still an ok story.
