Entertaining and exciting!

As I mentioned in an earlier review, Max Brand is one of my favorite authors. This is a collection of three stories that appeared sequentially for three months in Street and Smith's "Western Story Magazine." They seem to have been written to go together into one story, although the story, The Bright Face of Danger (which is also the title of the book), has a different narrator, a character in the storying relating the tale.

What especially impressed me in this book was that the first chapter was one of the best introductory chapters I have ever read, but I was disappointed that I didn't see more of those characteristics displayed within the story. However, the reader learned immediately much about James Geraldi, the protagonist of the book.

Nevertheless, I enjoyed the book and was loathe to put it down until I had finished.
