On the fast track
Jack Denton is on the fast track to partner in his Richmond, VA law firm. Working non-stop, he has no time for anything else but case files.

More and more Jack is finding the thought of leaving Emma not so pleasant, but he has a career plan he cannot put on hold for much longer, or he risks losing everything he has worked so hard for.

Jack will have his work cut out for him if he intends to capture Heart.

Wife and mother of three daughters and one son, life is never dull. I fell in love with the written word as a young girl. My enchantment with the act of falling in love was cemented after reading Pride and Prejudice in the 10th grade.
I love being able to crawl inside a book as if I am a bystander watching it all unfold live. Now that's a good book!

My desire is to share my fictional friends with you so that they become your friends too! When you read my books, if you don't end it by saying "Best Imaginary Friends EVER!" then I haven't done what I set out to do.

**ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review by the girls and I at www.sizzlingpages.com **

If you're in the need for a low angst type book, with a little heartbreak, but definite happy ending, then this book will definitely be the book for you.

Emma is a kindergarten teacher, living in her hometown, enjoying the quiet life that she's made for herself over the years with a lot of good friends.  Suddenly, through tragic events, her life is turned upside down when she is thrown into position of taking care of her god-daughter, Olivia.

Caring for Olivia is never the issue or the problem - the problem is Jack, her uncle, who is also sharing joint custody.  The uncle that Emma has secretly had a crush on for the past 8 years.  The Uncle that, even though she only sees on occasion at holidays - she can't stop lusting after.

Jack is your typical career-oriented, lawyer and ladies man.  No long term relationships, only a good time - and work is the most important thing.  The problems with this start when Jack starts spending time with Olivia and Emma after he becomes Olivia's joint guardian.  He's always found Emma attractive, but knew she was off limits because she was not a "one night stand" type of girl.  But, being in the same house together - dealing with their grief, learning how to care for Olivia - is pulling them towards each other.  They find it impossible to deny their attraction - but Jack still is not sure he wants to change his ways altogether.

It was beautiful to see how Emma handled Olivia and her grief - always putting her and her feelings first, and taking great care for her.  Jack also did his share of trying to heal Olivia, even if his experience with children was limited.  Putting aside their troubles with each other together their main goal was to give Olivia the best life she deserved, regardless of the tragedy she experienced.

Even though the story mainly revolved around Emma, Jack and Olivia, there were quite a few other characters and townspeople that were quite charming and memorable, especially Emma's three friends.  I look forward to reading about them in the future and discovering more about their lives.  After reading Captured Heart you'll really feel like you want to visit Garrett's Point and maybe stay awhile.

Well Savanna Grey has another hit with this one! There is something so special about her writing style. She has this magical way of pulling you into the story and somehow making you feel as if you were there, experiencing it with her characters.

In the beginning, we are introduced to a group of friends about to his thirty. Emma, Sydney, Kathryn, and Melanie who have been friends for as long as they can remember - even though they are all different.

"Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants had nothing on their friendship, and they didn't need to mail a pair of jeans all over the world to prove it." That sums their friendship up PERFECTLY!

Emma is a kindergarten teacher and super sweet. She rarely gets angry, never yells, and is probably the most kind-hearted character that I've read about. She plans on spending her spring break watching her 7 year old God daughter, Olivia so her parents, Dana and Jeff, can spend some time alone together.

Jack is Dana's brother. He heads to Garret's Point after tragedy strikes to help Emma take care of some things.

Their attraction has always been there, as they've known one another for years through Dana.

When their lives are thrown together permanently, they have no choice but to work together to make things work.

I loved this story. There were so many parts of it that just had me in awe.

I'm so happy that this is a new series because I CANNOT wait to read more, mainly Kat's story. Her character is one that I can't wait to learn more about.

I give his one 5 stars and recommend this, and all of Savanna's work, to anyone who wants a wholesome classic romance. While there is sex, it's not overly graphic or erotic. To me, it's perfect!

When you finish Captured Heart, I guarantee that you're heart will be full and you'll turn that last page totally satisfied!

I was gifted this book for an honest review. I am reviewing for Crazy Daisy Book Whore.

The story begins with sweet kindergarten teacher Emma and her besties meeting in their small town diner for their weekly breakfast-for-dinner girls' night out. They are making plans for their thirtieth birthday bash and talking about spring break. Emma will be babysitting her "niece" for her close friend for the week.

Then BAM! OMG, I didn't see that coming, but it did. A tragic twist in the story leads to the entrance of hottie, Jack. Wow, I fell for him from the moment he stepped foot in the door. Jack and Emma are thrown together because of the tragic twist and find comfort in one another after years of oogling each other during their family dinner meetings at Emma's friend's (and Jack's sister's) house.

These two are total hotness together. Yet, Jack is a career driven playboy who doesn't have time for love. Emma doesn't want to get hurt, but she has hope for a future together.

Read to find out if Jack will capture Emma's heart in the face of tragedy.

Really emotional book. I enjoyed it. Starts so sad. The loss of friends/family.

As she lay in bed trying to count sheep and staring up at the dark ceiling, she spoke to Dana. “How are we supposed to handle this, D? I’ve been through counseling. I’m a teacher. I know the basic steps, but this is different. It’s you. Why you and Jeff? Why?” she anguished

The sorrow Emma could see in his sad brown eyes, made Emma want to comfort him. He looked ragged. Genius assessment, Einstein. His sister and brother-in-law just died, he had to ID the bodies and now he has to tell his seven-year-old niece that her parents are never coming home. Guess he might be a little disheveled, but he was still a picture-perfect hot mess. Really, Emma? Your hormones can kick in at a time like this? She disgusted herself.

I loved Emma's friends Kat, Sydney, Mel and of course Grady. (Especially KAT!)

“What do you mean before I jump to conclusions?” Kathryn asked.
“I know Em, and something happened between them last night, at least more than she’s saying at this point.”
“What about last night? Come on. Is he a sleaze ball? Does Grady need to go rough him up? Hell, I’ll go. He doesn’t look that tough to be honest.”

Jack immediately located Emma on the dance floor wrapped around some guy. His nostrils flared and his eyes narrowed.
“Before you go off and do anything else to make matters worse, know that Emma has only stepped foot in here maybe three times in the past eight to ten years, and that’s been because she was part of a wedding party” Sydney informed Jack.
He started to step forward and Sydney halted him with a hand on his forearm. “You’re not the only one hurting, Jack. Dana was like a sister to her too. You need each other to get through this. Don’t blow it by saying something you can’t take back.”

“Fancy meeting you all here. Come here often?” she questioned sarcastically. “Listen Mary Poppins, Sheriff Taylor over here was just looking out for you. Don’t get your panties in a wad.” Kat sputtered defensively.
Grady hung his head. When would the woman ever think before she spoke. Probably never. And why was he so freakin’ turned on by her incorrigible behavior? Grady figured he was in for it. Emma reached over and planted a sloppy kiss on his cheek. “Thanks for caring, Grady.”

“Hey, what’d that cup ever do to you?” Mel asked calmly.
Emma frowned up at her. “Okay, the way I see it, we have two options here, Em.” Sydney waited for Emma to acknowledge she was listening. She stopped slinging plates and looked over at Sydney across the table. “We can let Kat kick Jack’s ass, or leave it alone and let you handle it after we leave. What’s it going to be?”
She had to admit that right now she wouldn’t mind seeing Jack bent over in pain, but that was temporary and didn’t solve anything. It might make her feel a little better though. The adult in her won out. It took the steam out of her anger too. She walked around to her friends and said,
“As much as I might take pleasure in watching Kat kick his deserving butt, I’ll deal with him later.” She hugged them and said, “Come on! We’ve got eggs to hide.”

She hadn’t realized Grady was still here until she turned to head back inside. “They’re right, ya know.”
She jumped. “Grady, Jeez! You startled me. I thought you had left.”
“You know I love you like a sister, Emma. It doesn’t sit well with me seeing what Jack is doing to you. It’s not hard to figure out the rest. You deserve better than that. Just don’t forget that when you’re caught up in doing what’s best for everyone else.” She’d held her emotions in check all day, pushing back the hurt Jack had caused her in the kitchen, making her feel like just another body he’d been to bed with. “Grady, why couldn’t I fall for a guy like you?” she questions him seriously.
“Probably for the same reasons I didn’t fall for a girl like you. I think they call that glutton for punishment.” He tried to lighten the mood. He pulled her into his large frame, hugging her to him. “You know I’m here for you whenever you need me. Doesn’t matter when or what time. We all love you, Emma.” He kissed the top of her head and released her, not before he spotted Jack at the breakfast bar fuming. Grady leaned over and whispered in her ear. “His mouth may be saying one thing, but his body language is saying another. Trust me on this one. The man is fighting with himself.” He tipped his baseball cap and was gone.

Just then the diner door swung open. At first Jack thought the wind had caught it. Looking up he realized it was more like a whirlwind herself. There stood Kat fuming. Jack was certain steam was coming from her ears. This wasn’t a good thing. She stalked toward him, purpose in her stride. He stood as she came up to their booth. “Kathryn, let me explain. I…” Before Jack could finish his sentence, Kat hauled off and punched him in the nose.
Holy Hell that hurt! Jack held his nose, blood pouring from it. Then all hell broke loose inside the diner. Grady jumped up from the bar. “Kathryn Gilbert!” he bellowed and walked right over and threw Kat like a sack of potatoes right over his shoulder and carried her out. All the while Kat was pounding his lower back yelling, “Put me down, McCloud right now!”
Melanie came over to Jack with a sandwich bag full of ice. “Here. Hold this to your nose.”
“Guess I deserved that.” Jack muttered.
Melanie sat down by Sydney in the booth. “Hun, you’ll have a line of people waiting to take a swing at you if you don’t make things right with Emma. We protect our own.”
Jack respected that, and could certainly appreciate that. Moving here meant gaining a community not just a place to live. “Well, there’s no time like the present they say.” Jack stood. “I know I hurt Emma terribly. I wish I could take it back, but I can’t. I made a mistake, and I’m sorry. I know I hurt more than just Emma.” Jack was telling them he knew by hurting Emma, he’d hurt them as well, and he was sorry for that.
Both Melanie and Sydney nodded. “Good luck to you, Jack. You do know you’re going to have to fight for this, don’t you? She’s not going to give in easily. Some hurts take longer to heal, especially if trust is broken.” Sydney was a perceptive woman.

“The point is, Emma, and I do believe we have one,” Sydney interrupted Mel and Kat before it became a tirade, “You’re a giver. You react to people’s needs, knowing exactly what to do to help them. You bring sunlight into dark situations. That’s what makes you so special.” Sydney grasped Emma’s hand. “You have to take some of your own advice in this situation. Work through it. Let time heal. It always does, but don’t shut your support system out. That’s the worst thing you could do, but you already know that, don’t you?”

All women should have friend like these and Kat & Grady have their own story apparently.

Jack - oh Jack. He cans be so great -

.“You never cease to amaze me.” He came up behind her and slid his arms around her, kissing her neck.
“Oh yeah. Why is that?” she asked playfully, little thrills of excitement coursing through her at his touch.
“Whatever you set out to do, you’re all in. It’s obvious that people here adore you, but that’s not surprising either. What’s not to love?” He’d voiced this aloud, but truly he’d been thinking to himself. She was truly amazing. “Jack, that’s one of the nicest things anyone has ever said to me.” Her heart melted completely for this complex man holding her. She turned in his arms, hooking her hands around his waist. “You’re not so bad yourself, ya know.”

...and then he pulled a horrible douche-bag move.
“Care to explain your temperature change today, Jack? What was that all about?” Her tone conveyed her confusion. “One minute you’re kissing me and the next you’re treating me like a one-night-stand.”
Jack knew she was right, but he didn’t care. What is it you want me to explain, Emma. I think you’re a pretty bright individual. I thought you understood the no strings attached rule. We agreed to have no regrets. We had a good time together. Now it’s over. End of story.”
Let me get this straight. Yes, I heard everything you just said, and I know exactly where we stand, but was it necessary for you to make me feel so cheap, Jack? What did I do to deserve that?”
“Oh don’t be so melodramatic, Emma. What did you think was going to happen? That we’d sleep together, maybe continue some sort of relationship after I returned to Richmond? Was that it?”
Her throat burned with unshed tears. “I never asked you for anything, Jack.” Her heart hardened to protect herself.
“That’s true, but I guess you didn’t have to, did you?” he said acidly.
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“Well, with my sister’s death, you’ve gained everything you’ve always wanted, haven’t you? A house on the river, a child to raise like your own, and if you added me to the mix, then you were set, weren’t you? Don’t you think we’ve played house long enough?” He said the words in anger and jealousy, intending to hurt. He knew he’d make a mistake the minute the words left his mouth, but he couldn’t take them back. Maybe it was better to insure this thing between them didn’t get in the way again. He watched as all color drained from Emma’s face. He thought for a moment she might faint.

I was glad Emma stood up for herself and that Jack regretted his horrible behavior and decided to make things right. Olivia was adorable too.

Sometimes you need a book that is sweet and refreshing. This story filled my heart with so much tenderness that I cried quite a few times. The beginning was heartbreaking, then the journey of the couple was sensual yet sweet.

These two had to form a instant family with sweet little Liv and I loved how they dealt with her broken heart.

Add in some crazy in your face friends and you have one entertaining yet emotional read. Jack was the quintessential career driven man. Nothing was going to derail him from his road to success.

Life had  a different paved path for Jack and Emma. It was a path that began in such a sad way but there was a purpose and through faith and forgiveness they help heal each other and  I fell in love right along with them.

I'm a sucker for romances involving kids and family and especially friends. This had it all and I haven't stopped thinking about since I closed the book. Classic , sensual romance fans this one is for you.

This is the first book I have read by this author. When I finished it, I immediately bought the second in the series. Savanna Grey captures small town life perfectly, making me wish I lived in Garrett's Point. The characters were real to me, like friends I wish I had. I laughed and cried, always the sign of an amazing author.

* I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. *
In the beginning of the story we are introduced to a group of best friends about to turn thirty all within the same year. They are Emma, Sydney, Kathryn, and Melanie who have been friends for as long as they can remember - even though they are all different and all have very different personalities. They have a standing Thursday night breakfast, dinner date, so that they can all keep up to date on each other's lives and to plan a big birthday bash!

The characters are fun, funny and so easily relatable. I wish that I had a group of friends like this. I enjoyed getting to know each character and their personalities. I could feel the love that they felt for each other pouring out of the book. They really made the story! The storyline flowed perfectly throughout the book and the details about the town made it feel as if it could be right there with them at the diner and spending time on the lake. I love how the author was able to draw us in with the details she provides. It was such a vivid picture.

I'm pretty excited that this is a new series because I CANNOT wait to read more, I need to know how the rest of the girl's lives continue on, especially with the hints from the author about each one's upcoming adventures! I am already making the stories up in my mind and can't wait to see if I am anywhere near the author's. I give this one a solid 5 stars and recommend this, as well as Savanna's other books, to anyone who wants a wholesome classic romance story. She writes a really enjoyable story and a story that makes the reader feel good when they are finished reading. While there is some sex, it's not overly graphic or erotic and it brings back some romance that books seem to missing lately. To me, it's the perfect book for a weekend read! Add it to your TBR list and you will be left satisfied and happy and eagerly anticipating the next book in the series.

Captured Heart is the first in Savanna Grey’s Garrett's Point Novel series.

I loved this story. Emma Heart is a sweet and smart twenty-something kindergarten teacher with a heart as big as the Chesapeake Bay. When tragedy strikes, Emma is left with the joint responsibility of raising seven-year-old Olivia, the daughter of her best friends Dana and Jeff. Olivia is Em’s God-daughter, and the absolute apple of her eye. Olivia’s other appointed guardian is Dana’s brother, Jack, who (coincidentally) Emma has been in love with since she laid eyes on him at Olivia’s first birthday party.

Jack is a high-powered Richmond attorney with a singular focus on his career, but when faced with the obligation as Olivia’s joint guardian, Jack begins to struggle with his priorities. And if the pressure of decisions about Olivia’s well-being weren’t enough, the added distraction of the beautiful blond kindergarten teacher doesn’t make his decisions any easier.

Captured Heart is a lovely, sweet story. Author Savanna Grey explores the difficult issue of loss and grief in this careful and gentle story. The characters are well-developed and believable. I particularly enjoyed the supporting cast – Emma’s group of girlfriends who are all loving and supportive of each other, and particularly loving and supportive of Emma and Olivia. Their support becomes particularly formidable when Emma’s feelings for Jack threaten to break her heart. For the story itself, I would give Captured Heart 4-1/2 warm and tender stars.

Now for the difficult part. I was provided with an advanced read copy of the book for my review. Unfortunately, the copy that I received contained story inconsistencies, and numerous grammatical and mechanical errors. The errors were enough, at times, to detract from the storytelling itself. For those reasons, Captured Heart earns an overall 3-1/2 stars. It is my hope that the final version has been edited and corrected so that the reader can enjoy the story without the disruption of errors.

Complimentary copy provided by author/publisher for an honest review!

A great group of friends, small town, hot brother of a best friend, tragedy, miscommunication, frustration and purpose...Yep I LOVED this book!

Emma is such a sweet heart and I just wanted to reach into the book and pinch her cheeks. Seriously, she has a big heart and her group of gal pals had me wanting to eat breakfast for dinner with them. I was hooked by their banter and the clear closeness of them all. It doesn't take long though for sweet Emma's world to go from carefree to turned up side down! Adding responsibilities she was not prepared for but knew that she had to own it and couldn't let anyone down for herself and all involved.

Jake is dreamy. I love his admiration of Emma from afar and for years past but there never was a right time to act upon it. He wasn't a relationship man and his career was number one. Emma deserved more than that in his mind, but hey, men have two heads and the brains in each don't always agree *wink*. When it comes to romance timing is never going to be perfect but when Jake is forced to see Emma due to tragedy it brings up deep emotions.

This book showed that you don't need explicit love scenes that "clean steam", as Cassandra Giovanni says, is just as good. Believe me I read a lot of erotica and sometimes when you switch to romance or a blush read you feel like it wasn't enough. With Captured Heart I was drawn in, I was captivated by the energy between Emma and Jake as well as the side characters (which I hope get their own spin offs *cough*)

If you are looking for an easy HEA read, with a hint of tragedy, comedy, angst and "awe" moments I would suggest this book!!

5 *WINK* READ

I received this book and as arc for an honest review.
This book is a rollercoaster of emotions. It starts with Emma and her friends going on spring break. A traumatic event rips Emma’s life apart and she has now been throw with a responsibility of raising her best friend’s daughter with the help of her best friends brother. It shows the ups and downs the love and hate between them both, and the sadness of a child going through a tragic loss.
This is your typical love romance novel, but still very well written. I start reading this book going from laughing to crying to smiling again. I would classify this book as a brain candy, it’s an easy read, and for the sexy scenes it leave a lot to the reader’s imagination so if you don’t like graphic sex scenes, I would recommend this book for you!!
This book sucks you in and won’t let you go till read the last word. I can’t wait to read more of her books, and see how all the other characters come to life. This is a must read for anyone who loves a good romance book that doesn’t involve a lot of thinking, just a good old romance that makes you smile laugh cry and yell!!
Over all I would give this book a 4 out of 5

Review by Sandi for Blushing Divas Book Reviews

A Sweet Love Story

Captured Heart was a good old fashioned love story, two people finding love when forced to work together when Jack sister and brother-in-law die leaving shared custody of their daughter Olivia to him and his sisters best friend Emma. Emma is a small town, kind hearted kindergarten teacher who is used to taking care of everyone else and does not do one-night stands. Jack is a big city attorney who doesn't do relationships. This was a fast read for me and had me laughing in one part then teary eyed in the next. I liked watching their relationship bloom and them trying to figure out how to care for Olivia together. Of course they have their ups and downs but we are left with a HEA. You watch the other characters developing also, who I'm sure will be in the follow up books for this series. I am anxious to see the story of Grady (the town sheriff) and Kat (Emma's feisty friend). No graphic sex in this book, just good old romance.

Jack and Emma couldn’t be more different. Even though they’ve known each other for years, they have very different lifestyles. But, they have both been named guardians to Olivia after the death of her parents.

They are both struggling with this new information though. Olivia comes first now and Emma doesn’t want her to leave her hometown. Jack has no intention of moving, so they have plenty to figure out. They soon develop feelings for each other but, Jack isn’t the relationship type and Emma doesn’t do one night stands. So what happens if it’s more than one night?

I enjoyed this quick read. It was cute and funny in places, steamy in some and heartbreaking in others. Quite a bit was packed into it. You get into the heads of several characters. A couple times I did find it confusing. Skipping around to another’s thoughts. I also enjoyed all of Emma’s friends. They are very protective of each other and love one another very much. I give Captured Heart 3.5 – 4 stars.

Another winner for Savanna Grey. I loved Captured Heart from beginning through the last page. I typically don't start a series until most if not all the stories are available. I am a very impatient person when it comes to stories. This holds true for this story as I now have to wait for the next one to come out. This story however sounded so good, I just couldn't wait for them all. It is a mixed blessing. I want them all now.

At first the characterization appeared to be a bit loose, not really solid. As the story progressed though, the characters became more and more clear as well as their relationships with one another. I loved Emma and Jack, they were so well suited for one another and sweet little Olivia was icing on the cake.

Now onto Conflicted Hearts, Kathryn and Grady's story :).

I recommend this story to 14+ due to adult content.

Captured heart

What a nice and sweet love story. Good quick read too. I wont lie I had some tears in the beginning. Tragedy leaves Emma sharing custody of her goddaughter Olivia with Jack (Olivias uncle) Emma has known Jack for 8 years and always thought he was cute but that was it, his work consumed him and he had no time for women aside from the random one night stand. Well he falls hard and fast for Emma but shatters her heart with hateful words and leaves town only having part time involvement with his neice. He realizes his mistake. You have to read to learn about their HEA. Great standalone story

I adore this story. I love Emma and her group of friends. Jack and Emma have things to learn. I look forward to future stories with the rest of her friends.
