On the whole, I don’t love books where there is a formula. If you do this, then (_____) will happen - Especially with Christian books because it very much puts God in a box. It also sort of implies that I have some control over the outcome. If I just surrender this then God will give me that.

This book definitely contains some of that idea that we have some control over whether or not God hears and answers us. I think we are to be obedient for the sake of obedience. Not for the sake of the outcome.

I also think she glosses over how difficult their experience as missionaries has actually been. I realize this is a very short book and she left a lot of stuff out.

All that being said, I think she makes some good points, and has some good reminders for sitting with God and peeling your eyes off of yourself. Her writing is heartfelt and I can tell that she’s a caring person who is very sincere about following Jesus. She uses a lot of scripture references to support her thoughts. On the whole, I think this is worth the read, especially since it was so quick. It definitely left me with a few nuggets that I will continue to think about and that is success in my book.

It's ok

This book has some very long and poorly punctuated sentences that are difficult to read. While I agree with the author on some levels, parts were condescending.
