This book contains the story of the Creative Initiative Foundation in the early 1970's, a group that believed in individual transformation as key to evolution of a human race defined by generosity, cooperation, peaceful resolution of conflict. Commitment to community in conformity with the group's spiritual values was the key to individual transformation. The Foundation offered confrontational seminars and workshops aimed at person growth and transformation, with membership open only to couples. As a seeker in those days I had profound personal growth experiences as a member, and was excited to think I'd found the hope for the future I was seeking, hope that was dashed when my then wife declined to participate.
The organization subsequently morphed into the "Beyond War" movement of the 1980's, and in 1990 into the Foundation for Global Community. In 2010 the considerable assets of the Foundation were converted to cash ($17.7 million) for investment in worthy projects, individuals and organizations who continue to pursue the ultimate vision of one earth, one humanity, one spirit. One such project is "Global MindShift", a non-profit whose purpose is to "discover, live, and communicate what is needed to build a world that functions for the benefit of all life."
