Rate this book
In war, there are no guarantees...

Still recovering from her captivity in the clutches of notorious killer and cult leader Elliot Wells, Kasha hoped the only thing she would need to focus on was helping her beloved Faction and the rest of Kazola recover from his wicked games.

That is, until he spoke directly into her mind.

Now Kasha must dive back into Elliot's dark, twisted world to understand exactly what's happening to her. In this place she never wished to return to, full of people she hoped to never see again, Kasha uncovers truths that were meant to stay buried and secrets that could bring Kazola crashing down around them.

All while Elliot's dedicated followers continue to rise up and fight for him.

As war looms on the horizon and rages in her mind, and with Nolan faithfully at her side, Kasha must decide how far she is willing to go to keep the oaths she took. Can she continue to protect the peace? Or will the darkness that lingers in her soul finally consume her?

Spoilers if you’ve not read the first two books…

Kasha is back after being kidnapped by Elliot and tortured for a month and she thinks everything can go back to normal, when, suddenly, he’s in her head. And now she has to not only try to protect her mind, but also open up about what’s going on and get help to stop him, while also trying to stop a war that is inevitably going to happen.

This was an intense and emotional ride. It’s like, once Kasha thinks things may go back to normal, it just never does, she never gets a break it seems.

I think this book really tested Kasha. She has to decide who to trust and how much information to trust to people. She’s also trying to build something with Nolan, and repair her relationship with her brother Caleb.

I love the family aspect in here and I love that Kasha is trying to give Caleb a chance, especially when you see how much he’s trying(that scene when tells their father off. Perfect).

And Nolan, oh how I love Nolan. The kindest most patient person ever. Here is someone who is also suffering in a way, and yet, he seems to always focus on Kasha and take care of her first.

That being said, there were times I was disappointed in Kasha. She’s definitely going through a hard time, but I think at this point she should have had more of an understanding of herself and a backbone to get back at Elliot or to figure something out rather than be a simpering mess all the time. She seemed to revert back to the way she was before and focused on her problems a lot and I don’t think she was very fair to Nolan. There was one point where she put him first, but other than that one time, it seemed it was all about her and I don’t think it was fair to Nolan or the others. Like don’t cry about it, DO something about it. It’s hard, but sitting there weeping isn’t going to get anything done. I guess I’m just not a very empathetic person 😅 or I’m more of a problem solver, rather than a crier 😅

4.5 ⭐️ due to Kasha’s behavior, but other than that, great continuation of the story and I’m sorry, I didn’t realize there was another book! So that ending shocked and surprised me! There were other twists that happened in here and one in particular that was very sad 😔 but made for a riveting story!

I look forward to the next book! It can’t come soon enough! I received a gifted e-copy all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Truly an Emotional Rollercoaster with an Unforgettable Cliffhanger.

Kathryn Marie has truly outdone herself in crafting this captivating new world! The story's concept is fresh and brilliantly executed, perfectly continuing the legacy of the first two books in the series. And that cliffhanger? Absolutely jaw-dropping—I didn’t see it coming! Now I’m desperately craving Book 4.

The tension, the emotional turmoil, and the raw anxiety throughout the book are so vivid. Kasha’s reaction to the death of a loved one (no spoilers here!) was profoundly moving—I actually cried. Everything about this book is flawlessly done: the gripping plot, the incredible character development, and the immersive storytelling. This series just keeps getting better!

I was lucky enough to read an advanced copy of this story and let me tell you it had me GRIPPED. The ups and downs, twists and turns, and the crazy high stakes kept me on the edge of my seat. Kasha’s pain and healing journey is so real and raw, and is written so beautifully throughout the series. The mental health representation is so wonderful and I love how prominent it is in this story and world. And any book that has Nolan cooking or smiling or honestly existing is a book I want to read. That man is the epitome of a green flag. Flawed, yes, but real, good, and kind. Simply cannot wait for the next book. Pick this up ASAP! Run don’t walk!

That plot twist at the end?? This series is the definition of political intrigue and within this series this book takes the cake. Kasha discovers so much about herself and the people she works for which leads to a very interesting ending. I cannot wait for the final book!

So, clearly, I was not ready for this book. It has wrecked me emotionally and I can’t put it all to words even three days after finishing this read.

It feels like the author is playing a game: how much can I endure till I break? The mind games and the manipulation run so deep that I have no idea what’s going to happen next. I was scared to turn the page at one point, because I KNEW what was going to happen when I turned the page and I was not ready for it.

I loved getting to learn new facts and seeing new faces of the characters who have been crucial since Book 1. Just when you think there’s nothing new to learn about someone, BAM! There’s more. It was exciting.

As usual, the ending has me desperate for the next book! I need answers and have to watch some characters suffer, a lot!!😤

I’m emotionally drained and need time to process it all…. Thank you so much to the author for sending me the ARC to review.

Kathryn sends you on a epic psychological ride with this installment in the Kazola Chronicles. I was biting my nails as I made it to the end of the book -- knowing what was to come and desperate to know what happens next.

Kasha's world was rocked once more after the events in book 2. I knew this book would be a rough one to read as she made her way through the aftermath. Kathryn did a wonderful job of giving us this powerful Kasha, but letting the reader see her struggles and vulnerability.

I, of course, continue to love her relationship with Nolan -- it is a powerful and consistent one that continues to grow the book. It is fun to remember where they started in book 1 and how far they have come.

As for the plot -- this book is a wild ride. Kasha continues her mental and emotional tango with Elliot Wells. But she starts to on some level question if he is entirely wrong as she discovered more about the world and the people she works for. Can they truly be trusted? The plot will flip everything you know on its heads -- the characters, the story, what you have been lead to believe, and it will make you start to wonder...what happens next?
