Quilling Instructions, Patterns & Ideas

Rate this book
From the "Quilling is another of the ancient arts that is happily enjoying a revival. In the early days it was known as 'curled paper art' or 'paper filligree.' It was in the 17th century that it acquired its present name, from the use of feather quills to roll the strips. In those days it was used mainly for pictures - usually very elaborate - or for lacy frames around photographs. Although still used in this way - as we usually do in reviving any art, we have added new uses. Three dimensional figures, either free standing, hanging, or in mobiles, or shadow boxes are fun. It is also delightful for covering styrofoam shapes or plastic eggs for decorations at Easter or Christmas." Chapters Materials and Supplies; Basic Instructions and Shapes; Butterflies are Beautiful; April Showers Bring May Flowers; Come to the Animal Fair - The Birds and the Beasts are There; Mobiles are Fun; Under the Big Top; Time for Grandfather (clock); Don't Forget Christmas. Illustrated with many black and white drawings and photos.
