Do you truly believe that you control your fate, that you can be whoever you want to be, that anyone can be the President? "Apply yourself and you can do whatever you like." That's a bunch of half assed horseshit and I am the living proof.
Because of that I drink. Some would call me a drunk. I have to ask, if you were forced to see the future and knew there was nothing you could do to change it, wouldn’t you drink, too?
I prefer Guinness. It goes down smooth and takes the edge off. It dulls my senses while eliminating the visions. Most of all it makes me forget. Forget what, you ask?
It makes me forget the terrible things I’ve seen, that fate makes me its bitch, over and over again, that I am powerless against tide of time and the universe. Most of all it makes me forget the pain. That is until I saw her.

Chris Manteria received his bachelors in English Literature from NYIT where he contributed to their campus paper and ran the campus literary magazine. He continues to explore his entrepreneurial spirit by running a number of small businesses and writes for his own entertainment and the entertainment of his audience. He grew up and currently lives in a small town suburb of New York City on Long Island with his wife and daughter.
If you could see into the future or the past, what would you do with that information? What kind of burden would the visions impose on your life? Would you accept it as is, try to change it, or just go crazy. Would you even understand why you are having them? The idea is a novel and interesting concept. As we walk this path with Charlie and feel his confusion, pain, anger and how he is hiding from all this in a bottle as his way of coping. I would have preferred to be given more information about his glimpses into the future, why some people have them and others do not, why he is given them and what he is supposed to do with them. The author did a great job of conveying the sense of confusion and the mental toll these visions take on him. He is an interesting character and so is Jennifer, although she plays a role that is way to small. I felt that the story spent too much time in the beginning establishing Charles mundane daily existence when more could have been added as to when this ability manifested, how he felt or reacted to it, etc. maybe room for a prequel? I would be interested in reading more if his novels in the future. Nonetheless, an interesting read and an excellent effort for a first book with a nice, flowing writing style.
If you could see into the future or the past, what would you do with that information? What kind of burden would the visions impose on your life? Would you accept the fate you’ve seen or would you seek to change it? These are some of the questions raised by the premise of Rerun by Chris Manteria. The story concept is a great idea for fiction and the execution is good for an author’s first foray into novel writing. There are a few setbacks that keep it from being an excellent novel. The novel follows Charles, a young man in New York City who experiences glimpses of events that are yet to come and sometimes events of the past.
I was fortunate to receive an advance copy of Rerun from the author in exchange for an honest review. Rerun is not the typical book I would read - I lean more towards Chick-Lit and memoirs. However, I am so glad the author reached out to me! Rerun was fabulous! A true page turner. Manteria immediately captures the reader's attention and transports us into Charles' world where he brings us on a suspenseful ride. Your mind races as you read, trying to figure out exactly what will happen next, but Manteria keeps you guessing!
I was very sorry to get to the last page of this book. I look forward to more stories from this amazing, emerging author!
Chris Manteria is a very descriptive writer who fills in every conceivable facet a reader would desire. The story is captivating, keeping the reader turning pages. I personally was hoping for a different ending but my desires may not reflect yours. I will be looking for more of Mr. Manteria work and feel that this book will captivate and entertain you as it did me.
A really well thought out and interesting first publication. It's obvious the author spent a great deal of time honing his characters and feels a special attachment to them. Well worth the read!
