The Love Collective is everywhere. It sees everything. Be not afraid.
Apprentice Flick remembers everything, except the first five years of her life. And for as long as she can remember, Flick has wanted to enter the Elite Academy—home to the best, brightest, and most loyal members of the Love Collective government.
Flick's uncanny memory might get her there, too … even if it is the very thing that marks her as a freak. But frightening hallucinations start intruding into her days and threaten to bring down all she has worked so hard to accomplish. Why is she being hijacked by a stranger's nightmare over and over again?
Moving to the Elite Academy could give Flick the future she's always wanted. But her search for truth may lead to a danger she cannot escape.
My taste in books is quite diverse. I love dark romances, but I also love fluffy fairy tales. I love brutal fantasies and christian stories. I also really love the stories published by Enclave Publishing. This trilogy was missing on my shelves and I changed that a couple of weeks ago. I took a while for the first book to arrive, but once it arrived I started reading.
Everything about this dystopia works. From the very first page it's clear that something is going on here, but the author doesn't lose herself in confronting us with the resistance too soon. We get to know the world our heroine is living in. We get to know everything she has learned in school, we learn about the values and rules of the society, we learn about the possibilities for kids and together with the heroine we eventually learn that things are not as beautiful as they seem. I liked the small snippets of memories spread throughout the story, already hinting towards what has happened and what was going to happen. I also liked the heroine's journey. She's been brainwashed for so long, of course it takes time to make sense of everything. I can't wait to dive into the next book!
