I have a very personal connection to this story as "Mom" and "Dad" were my great grandparents. "Nancy" was my grandma.
I'm so happy to have a signed copy of this book, and I'm glad my dad got this for me when I wasn't able to get back home to LPC to meet Nick at his signing. I highlighted and tabbed all the mentions of Grandma and Pop (the names I called them). I remember these stories being a topic of discussion at home as they were being published in the paper, but being a young college student, I didn't really pay attention to small town news, even if it related to my family.
I loved reading about Pop, he really was the best guy; what an honest to goodness sweetheart. My brother and I spent just about every weekend at the farm as kids, and reading this, I just know how much Pop must have loved having us around. He passed when I was 9 and even with such a short amount of time spent together, he has left such a strong impact on me. I named my Stardew Valley farm after him for goodness sake!
I think about Grandma and Pop often, and I hope to share even a fraction of their story with my son. I'm sorry I'm not a farmer, but my son will have claim to some of the land, and who knows? Maybe he'll want to follow in his Great-Great Grandpa's footsteps.
