it’s a race for the finish!

Well, the final book in this series definitely delivers on everything promised. And yet… The finale was almost anti-climatic.

That aside, there is soooo much good about this book, that it just doesn’t matter. Besides, in an odd way, the story almost demands for the final battle to be anticlimactic as the team’s progression gradually begins to paint a picture of the limits of the technology. In this context, when two equal foes, both at their limits, engage in battle, the one with a secret partner is going to have an obvious edge…so anticlimactic it is and I’m good with that. Also, it was a very interesting decision in how the author chose to portray just how equal the two combatants actually are….I’ll take “metaphor” for $200, Alex.

I really, REALLY, enjoyed the way in which the author advanced time in the storyline without actually having to make the reader sit through each of those various dungeons… It was a nice use of the media influence which throughout this series has been built almost into a character in its own right.

As an interesting “side-effect” of this technique, media influence, which until now had been given a pretty horrifying “personality,” suddenly came across in an almost positive way. One has to wonder if this is intentional sub-text correlated to the death of a significant secondary character at the end of the previous book, or merely an artifact created by the pace of this last book which really allowed no time for listening to the protagonists complain about the media…. A mystery which may never be solved…. (I’m guessing artifact in this case, but I wouldn’t put it past Michael to be making a “statement,” either).

I have every confidence you’re going to love this series, but, as it says, viewer discretion is advised… Enjoy!

Loved this series this series.

A great series with a very good ending, clever too. Team Cowboy was a lot of fun but I also liked the back warning. Be careful of even friendly aliens because we’re just peons to them.
The writers are great at building worlds that make sense and this series was perfect. Another thing that I like is that they don’t go too overboard with the dungeon dives. What they write is pertinent and fun. You have to wonder if we’ll see Luther, Lilly and Cez together again, the door was certainly left open.

As I have come to expect from these authors excellent and well developed characters in action packed scenarios. I couldn't put them down until I had finished the series
