Honor-bound to shield her, Rene announces their engagement then whisks his “princess-to-be” away. Taught since childhood that love is a lie, he can’t promise more than his protection. But with Mel, devotion is dangerously easy to fake…

My name's Heidi Rice, I'm a USA Today Bestselling author. I'm married with two sons (which gives me rather too much of an insight into the male psyche!).
I love my job because it involves sitting down at my computer and getting swept up in a world of high emotions, sensual excitement, funny feisty women, sexy tortured men and glamourous locations where laundry doesn't exist ...
I also tutor a 14-week in-depth online Write a Romance Novel course. So, if you have ever wanted to learn how to write romance from a bestselling author, check it out here: www.profwritingacademy.com/course/wri...
Now I believe wholeheartedly that readers should give honest and open reviews on Goodreads and Amazon and elsewhere. If you didn't like a book you are entitled to say so (even if it's mine! ouch). But you may notice that none of my book reviews are less than four-stars. That's simply because as an author myself I know how pathetically sensitive I am about bad reviews and with that in mind I prefer to spread the love among other authors — and don't do public reviews of books I didn't like. Just thought I'd clarify that!

I've been looking forward to Rene and Melody's story since I read the first book in this mini-series. I love a royal romance and this one turned out to be a pageturner. From a snowbound mountain chalet to beautiful fairy tale castles, an exotic secret hideaway in the Carribean and a secluded cottage in Wales, Princess for the Headlines delivers a spicy high stakes romp in less than 200 pages. Rene seems like your atypical playboy prince with an edge but he will soon win you over with his backstory and Melody is a solidly motivated FMC who is easy to root for. Some of the "let's get pregnant so we have an excuse to marry" bits were something of an ick factor for me as well as Mel's lie about having unprotected sex with Rene in the winter chalet. The plot and characters kept pulling me back in for more, though.

I've been looking forward to this story ever since we met Prince Rene and Melody in the first book of the series. Rene is the reckless playboy prince Princess Isabelle almost had to marry until she found another more tasty solution. Melody is her best friend and her personal assistant. They've both known Rene when he was a nasty teenager, teasing them and bullying them when they were children. Mel was always ready to snark back but that snark concealed an unwilling attraction to the mature prince that ended badly when she was eighteen. Now four years later, they are thrown together due to Isabelle's marriage. Both are at the end of their tether over the constant fighting and ignoring and disdain that has marked their relationship since their one night stand after which he ghosted her. When she attempts to escape from him, they end up stranded together in the midwinter chill. Except that the heat between them is explosive. I loved the way we are thrown right into the highly flammable relationship between these two. When they face danger together, it takes that connection to another level and being forced under one roof (though with more than one bed) they do find themselves having to actually talk. It was great to see Melody unravel the prince and the slow unveiling of the truth behind his reprehensible behaviour from the time he was a teenager through his rebellion after his father's death and these last years when things where slowly changing. Melody had her own demons and Rene inadvertently managed to trigger those demons with his behaviors. This was a very spicy read as the chemistry behind the snarky banter was incendiary. It all advanced the plot so I was keen to see how each coming together revealed more and more of their real selves. The ending was very satisfying and the epilogue was cute.

Hero is a prince/king/royalty of an alpine country. Heroine is the personal assistant to the Queen of another alpine country. They've known each other since they were misunderstood children. Hero bullied "beligerantly adorable"* heroine.
When heroine was 18, they had drunken sex and they have both been celibate since.**
They get stuck together in a snowstorm and have lots of sex and talk out their issues. A drone captures them together, so hero says their engaged. They go to the carribean for more talking and sex.
They're both so messed up that I don't know how happy their HEA will be without therapy. However, they've spared the rest of the world by pairing off.

-A royal romance full of tension, passion, and emotional tug-of-war. Prince Rene and Melody’s chemistry is undeniable from the start. Though a bit confusing without reading the first book, the story still shines. A compelling addition to Rice’s captivating romantic world.

A spicy modern romance that ignites the senses and touches the heart. Rene and Taylor burn brighter than a fairytale. From scandalous attraction to heartbreaking romance, Rice pushes emotions to their limit with more than hint of sweet temptation.
Is there something in the air between these two! I feel for Mel as she tries to cut her interactions with Prince Rene for the annual New Years Eve ball that she is attending in place of her best friend and queen who is on her honeymoon. Their interlude in the past was all kinds of wonderful but handled all kinds of way wrong. Yet Rene is determined to break through Mel’s fortress around her heart when she looks to escape. But fate has played a cruel trick on them, leaving them stranded in a snow storm. What follows is a moment out of time until it all falls apart and Rene heads home. Or that is, until he shows up on her doorstep with an outlandish offer. How will it end? You have to read to find out!
