If you love Ethan and Olivia’s best friends, Nick and Chloe, then you will enjoy the telling of their love story in this Novella…
Nick had a rule. No dating within the pack. Chloe was off limits, but she was also the only girl he couldn’t resist. When Chloe’s affections for Nick were reciprocated, she thought she had finally won over the guy of her dreams. One night brought them together. Betrayal tore them apart. But the universe had other plans.
I was given this ARC in exchange for an honest review and I was super excited to receive this book as it’s part of Bridget’s ongoing series. 😍😍😍😍
I’ve always wanted to know Chloe and Nick’s story and now that I do I would’ve never known. 😂 I def love Nick more than I love Ethan which I didn’t think was possible but he’s a more reasonable guy. 🤭 Anyway, this was a sweet and a little smutty novella as I get ready for the wait of the next book.
I def recommend you read the first two books first before doing this book but this can also be read first if you don’t care about order. 💙
This was a fun little novella. As I had already read the first two books in this series, I was already familiar with Chloe and Nick and the role they play in this series. It was nice to finally hear their backstory and have them as the main focus as opposed to side characters.
Readers do keep in mind, this story takes place when Nick and Chloe are still in high school, so there are juvenile aspects to this story, and the miscommunication trope is fitting as they are both young, and the werewolf aspect also creates a part of that layer that creates more tension and dissonance. Being that we already know the outcome to their relationship, it is interesting to see the back and forth of their fight to determining their futures together or apart and how mating in young werewolves differs from Ethan and Olivia in Olivia being human.
This was a quick, fun read that sometimes makes the reader want to pull out their hair in frustration, but does come to the happy ending we all expected.
𝔅𝔩𝔲𝔯𝔟: This is a novella in Bridget Nicole’s Pinewood Pack series. It tells the story of how Nick and Chloe’s love story began. Nick’s one rule was not to date anyone in the pack, Chloe is especially hard to ignore though. One night brought them together, but that same night ended in betrayal. While neither of them planned to make the same mistake again, fate had other plans.
ℜ𝔢𝔳𝔦𝔢𝔴: I really enjoyed this dual perspective, short, spicy novella! I loved Nick and Chloe in the first 2 books and it was nice to get a peek into their lives and story. It made me love them even more. I did have to keep reminding myself that the Chloe and Nick in this story are years younger than the Chloe and Nick in the first 2 books and should get a little more grace for their immaturity. I would love to see more of their story in future books. I particularly enjoyed the little easter egg at the end of the book.
As much as I loved learning about how Chloe and Nick got together, I have to admit that I was in disbelief most of the book.
I also realized that I don’t think I’d ever want someone mated to me if it’d be like this. Having no choice. Chloe had a point when she said that the only reason he “loves” her is because it’s like a biological need.
Also, fuck Ethan. His behavior is questionable in the main storyline, so this solidifies that he’s actually an idiot. When he was saying that Chloe should just forgive Nick and move on because he said he’s sorry? Like, what? So the girl pines over the guy for YEARS, then he thoroughly fucks her over, AND THEN has the audacity to expect instant forgiveness because they’re mates? No way. I know it’s a different species, so they work differently, but ohman, I was mad😂
Devotion by Bridget Nicole is book 3 in the Pinewood Pack series. It’s a sweet novella about Chloe and Nick. If you like books about fated mates, slow burn, protective MMC, second chance love, great banter, and is spicy then you will love this book.
I loved reading about how Nick and Chloe got together. Their story starts when they are in high school so they are younger than they were in the first 2 books in the series. Their story gives us some insight as to their relationship in book 1 & 2. She had feelings for him, he hurt her, then he realizes they are bonded so now he has to win her back. I loved how Chloe was determined to wait until she felt that bond to give in. I giggled more in this book and I loved the banter. I’m loving this series and so glad I was given a copy of this ARC in exchange for my honest thoughts and opinions. I wish their story was longer. You should read this series!!
Quick and easy read. Loved getting to know the backstory of Chloe and Nick and just how close Olivia and Ethan were to meeting years earlier.
✨”Damn him for doing this to me. I was doing just fine with all of my feelings for him buried deep beneath the surface. I hate him for making me love him again. I hate it that all I want to do right now is go to him. I hate it that I want to tell him that I forgive him and choose to be happy with him. I hate it that what he did to me that night still hurts my heart so damn much.”
✨”Nick. I love you because you’re who my heart wants, and this is my choice. I’ve always loved you because it’s how I feel, not because some bond makes me do it.”
Really fun and quick read-about 2 hrs-ish. It’s perfect for a little evening escape from reality. I really like novellas as palette cleansers. We get a whole story that wraps up nicely and side characters become main characters. I loved seeing more of Nick and Chloe. Their backstory is entertaining and also explains their personalities and actions a little better in the first two books. I gasped and laughed out loud several times. I also loved getting to see little glimpses of Ethan and Olivia when they were younger. This is one of my fav contemporary paranormal romance series. I’m genuinely looking forward to the next book!
Fav tropes: Fated mates 💞 Mate bonds 💍 Slow burn ❤️🔥 Spicy 🌶️ Banter for days 😏 Protective MMC 💪 Werewolves 🐺 Pack hierarchy ⚖️ Second chance love ❤️🩹
Fav quote: “First of all, we’re getting our own place…like, tomorrow”
Thank you Bridget Nicole for this gifted book! I loved it and can’t wait for the next one.
This was a nice short and sweet prequel to the series! This is a novella about Chloe and Nick and I loved learning more about their love story!
I’m so happy they end up together after the drama they put each other through. And I can’t believe that Ethan could’ve met Olivia so much sooner!! Ahh! Also it was fun getting a little insight and background on Ethan’s personality in his younger years.
One thing I’m curious about is what happens to Chloe’s friend Mia in the later books! I’m excited to read more books in the series 😍
Finally being able to read Nick and Chloe’s story was amazing! It gives a look into not only their relationship you see glimpses of throughout the first 2 Pinewood Pack books, but also the struggles they went through prior to the mating bond and how they overcame those struggles after! The ending also had me laughing due to the sense of how close our beloved Ethan was from books 1&2, to meeting his mate years prior!
I loved this novella and prequel of Nick and Chloe, fated mates and characters you meet in book 1, Awakening.
This dual POV story starts off with Nick and Chloe in high school. I laughed how Nick thought of Chloe as super hot and wanted to f*ck her, but also definitely not f*ck her because then she would “be all clingy and shit”. The author really captures teenage angst and hormones well. I could tell a difference in maturity in Nate and his best friend, Ethan, as teenagers vs how they interact and speak to each other in books 1 and 2.
Nick being a year older than Chloe, says he isn’t ready for the kind of commitment a girl like her needs…until he asks her to prom.
Nick has an internal struggle with having real feelings for Chloe and giving in to his overwhelming hormones as prom ends and they head back to a private room. He makes a pretty selfish teenage boy mistake on prom night.
It’s not a spoiler to say this novella is how Nick and Chloe find their way to each other and become mates. There were many emotional ups and downs that played into the depth of feelings these two have for each other. With touch her and d!e vibes and loads of chemistry, this book is another must read! I give devotion 5 stars because I feel so connected with the characters even more having learned their beginning.
This was a short read that was packed full of spice, earning it 4 chili peppers.
*4 chili peppers indicates descriptive intimate scenes and a variety of sensual acts in multiple chapters.
* I have read Beginnings and Awakening and read this book 3rd. I like the idea of reading Devotion before book one or after book 2. I know after I finished Beginnings, I craved more of Ethan and Olivia and needed Awakening. This novella was a nice palate cleanser for what I am sure is going to be an awesome book 4!
*I was given an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
I loved this novella of nick and chloe. I loved the dual pov and the back and fourth since that age is so confusing with their feelings it really made it feel real the emotions they were going through and trying to sort out
Even though it was a novella, such an amazing little story! I truly loved getting to see the behind the scenes and getting to see what happens and how Nick and Chloe come together! There love was a whole other level. And it’s crazy to know that Olivia and Ethan could have started a relationship so much sooner!
I loved getting to read this and see this story while they have been such a big part of Ethan and Olivia’s story! Such an amazing addition to this series, thank you Bridget Nicole! Thank you for creating this story and writing this amazing novella and series and thank you for letting me be a part of it!
