Anna Chastain is a born and raised California girl. She currently resides in central California with her husband and two daughters. She is addicted to books, music, pizza and donuts (and makes no apologies about it); She is the author of five books that revolve around kissing and laughing, and Locked Out is her newest release. On an average day, you'll catch her hanging with her kindergarteners singing songs about ABC's and pizza, a book not far out of reach.

I like Ms. Chastains writing style and this book was a pleasure to read. Chris is every womans dream man and well Jules made a mistake by keeping things secret and in a way I get it but you would at least think that she would get it right the second time round. At the end of the book she really frustrated me and she was stuck in her head too much.

Juliet and Chris

They met in college and were together for a year when she became pregnant. She didn’t want to ruin his life as he was off to medical school so she left him. His family is wealthy and she came from a broken family - mother a drunk and verbally abusive; and father left. 5 years later She gets in a car accident and he’s a dr. In the ER.

This was a sweet little story. I didn’t really agree with her not telling him about his son. But he pretty much just forgives her and has always loved her. His love for her was what kept the book good. She was a bit weird with wanting distance when he took a job 4 hours away…she said she’d go then changed her mind - it was weird and I thought he could of compromised more - seemed like she gave up everything. Closed door.

Hea with Spider-Man ring proposal.

This is a Very heartfelt romantic story. The writer captured exactly how Juliet felt from the day she found out she was pregnant until present time. With flashbacks throughout the story you learn how hard Juliet's life was, being from a poor family , her father left and her mother turned into a drunken verbally abusive alcoholic. She never thought she was good enough for Chris. All she had to count on in her life was her sister Beatrice (who moved to California to be with her boyfriend) and Chris her long time boyfriend but when she became pregnant she ran away. She didn't want to ruin Chris's life and ruin his chances at becoming a doctor. She never told Chris why she left. But fate brought them back together and Juliet realizes having Chris back in her and her SOS life means the world to her. .Chris never hating Juliet for her decisions is just glad to able to have her and his son in his life. Chris and Juliet never stopped loving each. The writer brings you through the highs and lows of loving someone, losing someone and finding a happily ever after . Very romantic sweet story.

**I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review**

I appreciate the opportunity to read and review this book. I love a good romance so when the author asked if I would read her book, I was happy to have the chance.

At first Juliet was a little hard for me to identify with, because the choice she made was one I probably could not make myself. I liked that she wasn’t a push over and she had made her way in life on her own. As the story progressed I found I could really relate to Juliet and her insecurities and self-doubt.

Chris could not have been more perfect. From his personality, to his ability to forgive, he was amazing.

While I was reading the story, I kept thinking, what is going to happen? What crisis are they going to face? I really didn’t realize that Juliette’s own fears and self-doubt would be so strong they would almost tear these two apart.

It has taken me some time to sum up my thoughts about this book and I think it is because it was not the same old story line I have read so many times. It was about two pretty normal people who have loved and been hurt, and are re-discovering that love. It was also about deciding you are worthy of being loved. I don’t think Juliet had ever felt like she deserved the kind of unconditional love Chris gave her. She had not grown up with that, but instead felt responsible for her own parents failed marriage. This was a very inspiring story about second chances and the power of love.

The author has a wonderful style of storytelling. Her work is clean and polished which made this book very easy to read. I enjoyed the premise of the story and found that it was a pretty quick read once I got into it.
The only thing I wasn't thrilled about in the story was the main character Juliet, but I still gave the story four stars because I believe it is more of a personal preference rather then a fault with the writing.
I found Juliet, the main character, to be a little self-absorbed in the sense that life is a struggle for her, but it is only because she has made it that way for herself. She made decisions in life (like not telling the father of her child that she was pregnant) and she says she regrets it, but I honestly didn't feel like she owned up to the decisions she made throughout the novel. Because of this I can't help but feel that there is more trouble to come in the couples future.
But despite all this, I still gave the book a four star rating, because I feel like this is an honest depiction of the situation. Personally I wanted Juliet to be different, but she wasn't. She is who she is and the author's writing was very good.

I received this book for free from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Juliet discovered she was pregnant at a young age and rather than telling her boyfriend, Chris, and disrupting his plans for medical school she chose to run. Juliet raises Cole alone for 5 years (with the help of her sister). They are suddenly tossed back together when she ends up in the ER after a car accident and Chris discovers Cole. Juliet struggles with letting Chris back into her life, she's always loved him but is on edge waiting for him to be angry with her about Cole or waiting to leave her like her Dad left her family.

This is a sweet romance, I was really cheering for Juliet and Chris and loved how Cole seemed to be a wise little man. The relationship between Juliet and her sister is a strong one. There wasn't a lot of conflict in the story between the characters, yet the conflict within Juliet was well portrayed. I would recommend this novel to anyone who likes happy, contemporary romance stories.

This was a lovely, sweet love story. Juliet and Chris were college sweethearts. Chris was headed to Med School, so when Juliet found she was pregnant, she bails out on Chris and runs away so he won't be forced to give up his dreams. Five years later, she has an accident and her attending emergency doctor happens to be Chris. Not only that, but he sees he son and recognized that's his son. This is when the novel goes awry. Instead of Chris being angry because Juliet had kept his son from him all these years, he's nice about it, even a little aprehensive that she may take Cole, their son, away again. They try to get together again, but this path is made difficult because Juliet feels strong guilt and is herself scared to face his parents. So he's apologetical and she's sorta rebelious. Finally we get some angst in the book and Chris finally shows some anger. I enjoyed the book and Chris' relation with his son. I also liked Juliet's sister Bea, who was an anchor in their lives after Juliet ran away from Chris. I enjoyed it a lot and thought it needed some more angst from Chris.

I received this book for free from Anna in order for an honest review.

I don't usually read this genre book but i really enjoyed branching out and will be reading more in the future.

It was a very romantic read and found myself smiling most parts throughout the book, especially at little Cole, and I loved the family outings :)

Juliet did get on my nerves a bit because of all her insecurities but Bea was there to tell her how it is and i just shrugged it off, if you have a mother and father like Juliet and Bea then I figured you're bound to be a little insecure about yourself and your future.

Will definitely be picking up more books by this author :)
Thanks again Anna :)

3.5 ⭐️

It was good and I loved cole. I just thought the way it ended was kind of abrupt. Like she has all these hang ups and then all of a sudden she’s fine? And it’s like in the middle of a fight too. Idk I just wasn’t a huge fan of the end.

***THIS BOOK WAS GIVEN TO ME IN EXCHANGE FOR AN HONEST REVIEW***

***Tina, #NerdGirlMama’s Review***

For a debut novel the author Anna Chastain writes a romance story, but from the point of after the characters fall in love instead of leading up to it. The author’s writing does flow and the story is believable and keeps you interested in this book. The characters are defined and I can relate to the main character Juliet, having raised my daughter alone for the first 7 yrs by myself. The character of Cole the little boy was a refreshing part of this story too.

However I did feel that we needed a little more back story on the characters Juliet, Chris, Bea, and Juliet’s parents. How Chris took the news of having a 5yr old son was just too easy for me, I suppose there are guys out there that would take the new that well, but I have not met anyone like that. Bea is Juliet’s sister who is her shoulder to lean on and her support system. A lot of Juliet’s insecurities come from how she was raised and they bleed over into her ability to decide to stay or to run, when she is unsure of what the future holds.

All in all this is a great beach read and would recommend to anyone looking for a feel good romance HEA book.
