Her gun was his wake-up call...until her courage stole his heart.
In the shattered world that followed the Dying, djinn warrior Omar al-Qadir has only one to eradicate the few humans left. Then he’s shot by lone survivor Olivia Raskin while investigating her isolated ranch. He should kill the dark-haired beauty on sight, but something in her defiant green eyes speaks to a part of his soul he’s done his best to ignore.
Instead of ending her life, Omar instead becomes Olivia’s protector, dedicated to keeping her safe from the ruthless outlaw djinn Khalim al-Usar, whose depravities know no bounds. As they’re hunted from one refuge to another, Omar finds unexpected sanctuary in Olivia’s quiet strength and selfless compassion, a tenacious light in the darkness he’s immersed himself in for too long.
With their latest haven engulfed in Khalim’s fury, Omar is faced with a choice — cling to the hatreds of the past, or embrace his growing love for the human woman who has reawakened his humanity. To protect her, he’ll have to become the one thing he loathes — a djinn bound to a human Chosen.
Torn between duty and desire, Omar must wage the biggest battle of all — against his own fears and prejudices — to claim the soulmate who has released him from the shackles of his own making.
A native of Southern California, Christine Pope has been writing stories ever since she commandeered her family’s Smith-Corona typewriter back in the sixth grade. Many reams of dead trees later, she’s happy to announce that her debut novel, Fringe Benefits, was published by Pink Petal Books on April 8, 2010. Her short fiction has appeared in Astonishing Adventures, Luna Station Quarterly, and the new journal of dark fiction, Dark Valentine. Her paranormal novella, Playing With Fire, was released on August 5, 2010.
While Fringe Benefits is a straight contemporary romance, she writes in a variety of genres, including paranormal romance, fantasy, horror, science fiction, and historical romance. She blames this on being easily distracted by bright, shiny objects, which could also account for the size of her shoe collection.
After spending many years in the magazine publishing industry, she now works as a freelance editor in addition to writing fiction. She lives with her husband and an explosively fluffy Pomeranian mix. Her house is pink, but don’t hold that against her.
Olivia has survived the Dying, hiding out on her ranch. But when a djinn warrior, Omar, catches sight of her she knows that she has a dogged foe on her heels. She takes the only action she can - it's shoot before she gets captured!
Omar was determined to rid the Earth of the humans. Why then does this infernal woman entice him so! Omar is in awe of her strength of character and bravery in the face of a mightier opponent. He finds himself protecting her, going from safe haven to safe haven, attempting to keep her from the very same hunting parties he was part of.
Omar may be morally dark grey but Khalim? Well, he's pitch black! There are no redeeming qualities at all about him - making it much easier to watch Omar and Olivia outsmart him. Omar is capable of growth and learning new things but choosing Olivia to be his chosen may be a step too far, even for him.
A dystopian world, after a pandemic was released and ravaged the world (sound familiar!) the story has wonderfully desolate backdrop. The intense attraction is off the charts hot, even when these two loathe each other! Can't wait to get back for another visit.
Given (The Djinn Wars Book 15) by Christine Pope. The murderous Djinn sets his sights on Olivia so Omar has to flit her from place to place to keep her safe and they fall in love.
This book was filled with twists and turns to make it quite fast-moving and suspenseful You cannot put the book down to find out what is coming next. Recommended highly as a must read along with the rest of the series.

Given is an amazing book and worthy of its place in one of the best series written by Chritine Pope. The book centers on a djinn by the name of Omar who in a previous book showed no mercy for the few left-over immune people left after the heat destroyed most of the human race. He came across a survivor However he was one of three brothers who had decided that they would not kill children or women. The survivor’s name was Olivia and Omar slowly fell in love and wanted nothing more that to protect her. As such, he had to protect against an escaped convict from the otherworld by the name of Khalim al-Usar. Khalim managed to follow them despite of Omar and Ollivia hiding places. I don’t want to include any further details but do suggest that you read the book (or the series). I guarantee you will not be disappointed.

Exciting, intriguing and suspenseful, this fast paced read takes you on one hell of an adventure as we follow Omar and Olivia as they try to get away from Khalim al-Usar a ruthless outlaw djinn. Twists and turns have you on the edge of your seat as the author weaves their magic and lures you in as djinn and human fight to survive and I am excited wait to read more!
