A stolen heart. A twisted dreamscape of nightmares. A love that shines brightest in the shadows.
When an alchemical experiment leaves his husband a shadow of his former self, mage Blaise Hawthorne will stop at nothing to save him. Even if Blaise must take the long walk to Perdition himself and confront death...
Amy Campbell is an independent author and librarian. She grew up in Houston, which she still calls home. Amy writes epic fantasy novels about men and women who are unapologetically true to themselves (and throws in the occasional pegasus or chupacabra to keep it interesting). When not working at the library or writing, Amy is chasing after her two busy young boys.
I will never stop yapping about this series, I love it so much! The series is honestly one of the best series of books I've ever read. Full of diverse, lovable characters who you truly, truly root for, extensive world-building, and all effortlessly written. I adore the prose of these books!
Heartseeker follows on from where Songbinder left off (I highly suggest that you read the five prior books before you read this one, starting with Breaker). After the events of Cheswell, Jefferson is still marred from his encounter with the newborn lich, Tara. His very essence, the attributes that make him him are currently lost to Perdition, and time is against him to set things right. His husband Blaise (baker, Breaker, and bestest cinnamon roll) sets off to Perdition to collect the shards of Jefferson's heart, alongside Wildfire Jack (professional grump but it's all very much justified), who inadvertently may or may not have made a bargain with the goddess of Death herself..
I read this as part of my Pride Month reading, as the world of The Outlaw Mages is abundant in queer characters and queer relationships. Blaise and Jefferson are amongst my favourite fictional couples, I honestly can't get enough of them!
Absolutely brilliant. Heartseeker is a fantastic edition to this series, and I eagerly await the next one!
Quirky characters with fast-paced plot. I love this series of urban fantasy blended with old Western flavor. Characters are well developed, which provides understanding of why they act the way they do.
