This book Trauma Recovery Pathways: A Mindfulness Roadmap to Healing and Resilience - Your Guide to Overcoming PTSD with Personal Insights and Practical Strategies is the most comprehensive and understandable writing on such a complex topic like; PTSD and its management. An amazing aspect of this book is that you don’t have to be a psychologist to understand this writing, but anyone who read this book will be able to understand PTSD very well. It can help anyone to help his/her loved one to come out of traumas that have led them to PTSD.

The writer; Gretchen Carlson has quoted daily life scenarios to make the reader understand how to feels to be a PTSD victim. And how can anyone know if someone is suffering from PTSD. And introduction to this mental illness is presented with references from authenticated sites and societies established for this purpose by healthcare authorities.

Although there is an absence of provision of test to differentiate between PTSD & C-PTSD but this book will help you to differentiate these conditions with thorough understanding towards their causes and symptoms of development. If you are worried about understanding signs of this illness then this book will help you to go through every important detail of signs, symptoms and triggers of PTSD.

It not only describes that how patient lives and their relationships could be impacted with PTSD but also brings its reader to go along with the details of different parts of brain that how are they affected with this mental illness.

Now after understanding to illness, the next stage is cure, and writer has shared all possible means of cure, from medicated treatments to alternative techniques, therapies; including animal therapy to modern technology solutions and management of health with exercise and nutrition along with awareness to all steps.

Covid-19 disease and its contribution to PTSD have been presented as a major example for the readers. As this remained the topic of the town for all of us since the outbreak so everyone could relate and understand this example easily.

Some good news are also shared by introducing the journey of survivors of PTSD, their journeys will not only provide and understanding to the illness but also motivate those who are suffering to strive for the cure in order to live an enriched life like these survivors.

So my suggestion is to go for this book if you want to grasp all that I have discussed above.

A human approach to a complex subject

I appreciate authors who have a personal experience with the subject they write about, and their ability to explain the convoluted to every day people. Gretchen Carlson did just that in this book.
