The book Detective Zack is a good book. I would recommend it to 4th through 6th grade kids, but I wouldn't recommend this book to other teens in my age group. It's about a church who is getting ready for their Christmas show which is a live nativity scene. However, the antique manger is stolen. The manger is originally from Bethlehem - that‘s why it is really expensive. When they find out that two homeless people had been breaking in to the church and sleeping at the church at night to keep their baby warm and the preacher suspects that the homeless people took the manger. The homeless couple claim they didn't take it and they are really convincing. When the church conducted their play outside on Christmas Eve, a dog in the play came out covered in black cloth particles which the missing manger had been wrapped in. Zack and his friend gather all the clues and find the manger in between a bunch of hay bales where the dog Bailey had been sleeping.

Zack and his friend Jodie also find the real meaning of Christmas, that it's not just getting presents. It's that it’s about the birth of Jesus and sharing it with others.
