I Will Always Find You: The Complete Slattery Falls

Rate this book
I Will Always Find You collects all three books in Brennan LaFaro’s Slattery Falls trilogy, a pulse-pounding, genre-spanning tale of a haunting in New England. Slattery Falls, Decimated Dreams, and The World You Loved come together for the first time in one dazzling volume, joined by The Orphan’s Revenge, a brand new, never before released novella.

Book Slattery Falls
Travis, Elsie, and Josh, college kids with a ghost-hunting habit, scour New England for the most interesting haunted locales. Their journey eventually leads them to Slattery Falls, a small Massachusetts town living in the shadow of the Weeks House. The former home of the town’s most sinister and feared resident sits empty. At least that’s what the citizens say. It’s all in good fun. But after navigating the strange home, they find the locals couldn’t be more wrong. And now the roles are reversed. The hunters have become the hunted. Something evil refuses to release its grip, forcing the trio into one last adventure.

Book Decimated Dreams
Five years after the demise of Robert Weeks, his shadow still haunts Elsie and Travis. Along with their young daughter, April, the Morlands have found peace, but when the sun sets, nightmares drag Elsie back to the worst day of her life. When April claims a man with green eyes taps on her window at night, it’s only a matter of time before children begin to disappear again, starting with April.

With their daughter stolen and an undead madman seemingly back from the grave, Elsie and Travis have no choice but to return to the twisting, turning streets of Slattery Falls. What will it cost them to get their daughter back and make sure Robert Weeks stays dead this time?

Book The World You Loved
Following the events of Decimated Dreams, Travis and Elsie reunite with their daughter, April. Only the world has changed while they were gone. Officer Metcalf and her wife, Penny, have kept April from harm, but when Travis and Elsie return, the shadow of Robert Weeks lurks around every corner.

Brought together by fate, the group prepares to make a final stand that will take them between dimensions, into the past, and to the chilling House of the Phantoms. Sacrifices will be made and strength tested as they desperately seek to find a way to defeat Robert Weeks in his own world, a haunted reflection of Slattery Falls.

The Orphan’s Revenge
Pulled from the pages of The World You Loved, The Orphan’s Revenge is the story within the story. A pulp novella that dives deep into the history and lore of Slattery Falls, told through the eyes of Anthony Stone, a historical character from the Slattery Falls trilogy whose writings and experiences help to pull the dark veil back from the House of the Phantoms, Robert Weeks, and the mysterious figure known only as the Protector.

You won’t want to stop once you start

*this review is of book three, The World You Loved. I read and reviewed the first two books in the separate ebooks.

“When a deadline looms, every tick of the clock triggers a visceral reaction. A wince. A jolt of panic.”
Starting right away where Decimated Dreams left off (or does it?), THE WORLD YOU LOVED has you eager to get going because this just isn’t letting up. For this story time plays an integral part, eleven years has passed in a heartbeat and now Elsie has just five days to decide her fate and the fate of everyone she loves.
With as serious as TWYL got, it was great to see that the characters were able to keep their sense of humor.
“I’m as anxious as you are, but this isn’t going to be as instant as ramen noodles.”-Travis

There is no mercy in this book and there were a few moments in the Slattery Falls trilogy that I started to be quite angry with the author for bringing out such grief stricken emotions in me. Damn!t Brennan, these are my friends that you are doing this to! How dare you!!

Anyone who's gone through the three-volume saga of Brennan LaFaro's "Slattery Falls," will appreciate what a joy it is to have them collected all together in one volume! There's also included a bonus-novella, one never published before, the essential fiction-inside-the-fiction pulp retelling of a key-character's adventure from the third book, allowing readers to experience firsthand that untold sinister tale against the evil over Slattery Falls; a volume lost in time and old libraries, it offers the first glimpse of the House of Phantoms, a terrible place where children get lost and shadows turn into monstrous spectres with hungry mouths.

Whoever somehow missed the trilogy the first time, this doorstopper will offer moments of immense pleasure: the fast-paced battle against the horrific haunting in New England starts with a group of three friends, Travis, Elsie, and Josh, college students by day and ghost-hunters by night; once the Weeks House comes into their sights, they find they've chewed far more than they expected, and... the hunt is on! Only it's themselves the prey, and getting ahead of the entity pursuing them has great cost.

The books describe in detail the intricate development of the group's war against evil, which turns even more complex after seemingly winning the first battle. LaFaro excels in characterization, not only putting his characters through hell (sometimes literally!), but especially giving them the chance to grow, to discover themselves, and learn what's important in life and what's not; the difficulty of letting go, sorrow, regret, crop up several times in the story - but always shaded with the faint colors of hope, desperate hope, as the darkness is bound to end up victorious.

The collected volumes are introduced by Ronald Kelly, who writes movingly about both the author and the books, recognizing in Josh (one of the books' ghost-hunters), traits which affected him directly. The author's afterword is poignant as well, at least I found it so. Thank you Brennan LaFaro for stepping into the darkness yourself and bringing back for us one of the best trilogies of the decade!

I loved having this trilogy contained all in one volume. What a great idea to make this into a collection along with a bonus novella at the end. This is my first time reading the author and I want to thank him for sending me an ARC to read and review. I think my favorite was the first story in the trilogy because I loved seeing how the friendship and connection developed between the three main characters. Josh was my favorite out of all the characters. I also loved how the story takes you into a different world or dimension. This part reminded me of how Clive Barker (my all time favorite author) creates other worlds in so many of his books. I highly recommend this book and give it 5 stars.

It has been a long time since I have become obsessed with a saga. This contains all the books and an extra novella that tells an epic story of loss, hope, and the battle to let goodness reign. From complex characters to unbelievable settings I devoured this book, always wanting to see what happened next. I cannot recommend this book enough.

Brennan Lafaro released his Slattery Falls trilogy in a collection called I Will Always Find You, which includes a bonus novella called The Orphan’s Revenge and an introduction by Ronald Kelly.

Josh, Travis, and Elsie start out investigating haunted houses, but they end up finding much more than they bargained for! I loved everything about this book. I enjoyed following the characters through the years, as well as their terrifying experiences, and may have shed a few tears at the end. Highly recommend picking it up - one of the best series I’ve read in a while!

I was very excited to have all three of the Slattery Falls books in one place to be able to read them as a full experience. The characters felt like real people that you would meet and their friendships were so lifelike. As things unfold while they are doing a paranormal type investigation, things happen that they could not explain yet they must go on to solve the mystery of why it happened, why are things happening to them, and how can they move on in the aftermath.
