It was another book for English class and it was quite wholesome and a blast to read compared to the other books I’m reading right now. It’s simple and uplifting, although the English is quite simple, it has its own flair. I did really enjoy it.
O. Henry´s very short stories. He sometimes didn't write everything so I enjoyed to imagine actually what happened. Also I felt sadness and slight hope of the poor people around 1900 in USA. O. Henry himself had taken money from the bank and arrested. After he earnt a lot of money he spent it and drank too much alcohol. Soon he died when he was 48.
I received this book for Christmas as a surprise. My husband tracked it down after I'd mentioned a story from our english reader in early primary school that had always stayed with me. The story was 'The Last Leaf' and it left an emotional scar which was definitely opened when I read it again. Sweet little collection, simple stories, simple language, lots of twists in the tail.
