Return of the Ice Men - They Came From Shetland

Rate this book
This is an historic fiction, an adventure which is loosely based on the lives of Laurence and Halcrow Humphrey (Umphray) of the Shetland Islands. This is a story of new beginnings in a New World. Captain Halcrow Humphrey departs from his home in the Shetland Islands to sail to the Hudson's Bay Company in Rupert's Land (Canada). He leaves behind Christina Laurenson, the woman who loves him. Halcrow signs with an expedition commanded by the famous explorer, John Richardson, to explore the icy waters of the Arctic in search of the North/West Passage. His ship is trapped by the ice and the crew must survive on the tundra. Some will die from the austere conditions.

Back in the Shetland Islands, Halcrow's brother, Laurence, hopes to pick up the broken pieces of Christina's heart. He knows that she loves Halcrow, but he plans to earn her love. He'll wait for her as long as it takes.
