Our hero: Bone tired. Lost. Desolate. A man pushed to the outer limits of his very being. His struggle: Satisfy the need to rest whilst still supporting his beloved in her hour of need.
While his wife negotiates a seemingly endless list of fashion stores in her quest for perfection, her loving husband must stave off the weariness that visits each partner in a shopping spree with their significant other.
Fighting hunger, rising frustration and the mental fatigue associated with tracking credit card usage, will he ever find peace? And honestly, can he just go and sit down for a minute...

The Husband Chair by Nick Bannister This is a poem about men who have communication issues in their relationship. They would rather curse their partner than talk about the issues. The description talks about a “loving” husband wanting to fulfill his wife's shopping needs instead of resting. A loving husband won't have bad thoughts about his wife making fun of her in his head and gawking at other women. If men are worried about their money, then be clear before getting into the relationship that you want a working woman and equality in the relationship. But at that time they take it as a challenge to win a woman with gifts and expensive dates. Why can't finances be discussed with partners to let them know how much they can budget for a shopping trip? Instead of writing an angry poem, it would be better to learn to communicate and be open with your partner.
4.5 stars. Funny quick read about husband wanting to sit and relax in his husband chair while his wife has very different plans. It is written in rhyme so it is fast read.
“The Husband Chair” is marketed as a humorous book, but it’s far from it. The main character is whiny, misogynistic, and acts like shopping with his wife is torture. It’s 2024, and I’m not sure why the loathing husband trope is still funny to people. I felt bad for the wife the entire story.
