Zajímavé shrnutí moderní drezury a jejích chyb v porovnání s historií. Proto se mi nejvíc líbilo vysvětlení autora, jak by se měl (jakýkoliv) kůň cvičit podle jeho vlastních zkušeností a prokázané praxe.

This is a brilliant book, safe to say. I have a much better understanding of the training of a dressage horse (and, basically any horse, because the purpose of this book is that every horse can achieve great things at their level:) This also answered plenty of my „But why?” questions I asked all my riding instructors so frequently. It also rebuilt my understanding of some things from the ground. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to understand: why do I have to do x when y happens? and values lightness and respect for the horse in training:)

Meinung:
Das Buch ist sehr aufwändig, mit vielen Fotos und Illustrationen, gestaltet. Philippe Karl erklärt anschaulich warum er etwas macht und gleichzeitig das wie. Besonders interessant fand ich die Unterschiede von seiner Reitweise zu der der Deutschen Reiterlichen Vereinigung (FN). Gerade bei der Gegenüberstellung der Reitweisen habe ich mich gefreut wie ein kleines Kind. “Endlich ! “, dachte ich mir, versteht mich jemand und stimmt mir zu, dass bei dieser völlig konfusen Reitweise (der FN) etwas nicht stimmen kann! PK schildert das Reiten so, wie ich es aus dem Bauch raus immer machen wollte bzw. mache und bestätigt mich, dass vorne festhalten und hinten treiben kontraproduktiv ist. Was ich (bei PK) befremdlich finde, sind die sehr stark schäumenden Pferdemäuler und die Flexion, aber PK befasst sich auch mit dieser Thematik ausführlich und erklärt einleuchtend und sachlich sein Handeln.

Fazit:
Ein sehr informatives und sachliches Buch, welches ich jedem Reiter und nicht Reiter empfehle. Es muss keiner seine Reitweise wechseln, aber über das “auf dem Pferd sitzen” sollte überdacht werden. Was man dann aus dem neugewonnen Wissen macht, bleibt ja dann jedem selbst überlassen. Auf ein pferdefreundliches Reiten und volle 5 Sterne!

Karl's book is quite good but not a quick read. The photos are absolutely beautiful and a testament to the efficacy and grace of his methods. His diagrams are very interesting and clear, as are his in depth explanations of the physics of the horse. The book has a lot of insight, and I think all dressage riders should take the time to read it and consider whether their current methods of training are beneficial to their horse or not.

Kein Buch zum einmal durchlesen und dann weglegen. Es kann eigentlich nach jeder Reitstunde etwas nachgelesen werden und beim nächsten Mal angepasst werden. Besonders gut gefällt mir, dass Karl vielseitig bleibt, obwohl er klar die Dressur bevorzugt.
