Any culinary friend of Calvin Trillin is a friend of mine! I'm sorry I don't visit Gotham more often - and more sorry that I haven't had this book with me since my first visit. The author has guided me to treasured new discoveries as well as reminded me of old favorites (& given some helpful literary confirmation of my own tastebud preferences).

In an age where smartphone democracy hasn't evolved much beyond the Yelpista blight, it's comforting to have a reliably knowledgeable taster out there helping with the first line of good-ethnic-dining navigation.
