Caryville, Wisconsin. A small town in the Midwest where the dead often outnumber the residents..... Located in Dunn County, Wisconsin is a small unincorporated town called Caryville. The little town seems to be bustling with activity but NOT just from the living! There are FIVE reportedly haunted places within this very minute location and as a result, it has been branded one of the MOST haunted places in Wisconsin. But why? “Caryville A Spirited Past” is not just any paranormal book. It weaves the tales of fur traders, Native Americans, and the settlers and immigrants who populated the area. But along with history comes a dark, at times confusing past of spirit children, demon dogs, and ghost ferries which sail up and down the Chippewa River. Hang on for a ride you will never forget!
Once you travel through Northwest Wisconsin all those small towns start to look the same. Especially those unincorporated towns where you miss if you were falling asleep on your way down to Madison or over to the Twin Cities. Take a trip through one of these small towns you will find a secret or two. Sometimes if you really looking you will get a visit from the other side.
Devon Bell's look into the legend and history of Caryville. An unincorporated town in Dunn County Wisconsin is a fascinating look into what may have happened in this sleepy little town. This book is kind of personal for me because I have visited all five locations even before I knew who Devon Bell was. ( Yes I was respectful). I cannot recall any experiences I have had but it does give off a creepy feeling.
Overall, this book is a must for all who believe our connection to the paranormal is through studying our history. Thanks to Devon Bell who shared her account of the small town of Caryville.
A good deal of the area's history went into the making of this book. I learned so much that I did not know and that would otherwise be lost to time which was of interest to me. I appreciate the history interwoven with the paranormal happenings as played out. Please take this with a grain of salt, but It seemed about 65% history / background, and 35% paranormal.
