Eli continues his adventures in the world of Lurra, facing new challenges as the Remnant's forces gather, a fresh invasion plainly on their minds. To make matters worse, the Association is beginning to step out from the shadows, revealing their horrifying intentions.
A Gateway To Galish is the fourth book in a new series focused on the sequestered world of Lurra. Prepare yourself for some epic world-building in a LitRPG (GameLit) reality with magical powers, fantasy, power progression, systems, a ton of mystery, and lots more adventure!
The societies are realistic, nuanced, and diverse. The characters intriguing. The mmc fun to follow. The pacing, to me, is near perfect. I hope to read at least a couple dozen more-- there's at least that much set up. Dying to find out which greater being sent our protag, but I have a strong suspicion as to at least part of the motivation--someone lugh pissed off, fer sure.
I thought this series was starting to get better but right now I can’t believe how disappointed I am in this book. First of all the main character had almost no level progress in this entire book. In fact it felt like he was mostly standing still. He didn’t practice fighting. He didn’t practice any of his skills. In fact the only thing he did do was learn how to make gates which he only really put any practical use close to the end of the book. (Not counting the one time he used it to get back to the storyline) Then the ending was extremely disappointing. He should’ve died at the end, if it was not by an act of the author (god) to save him. Then deciding that he really didn’t have any real progress in this book, he was granted a level up for not dying at the end. Of course that leaves us with another cliffhanger. I think this will be the last book I read in this series. I can only foresee more disappointments in the future if I continue to read anymore of this series.
On the good side. The Protagonist is likeable. The world has promise. The writing is good. On the bad side. It is very basic. The bad guys are evil power hungry murderers who kick the dog to make sure you hate them. I've stopped reading the sections on them, they are just there to be someone for the protagonist to fight. The magic system is inconsistent and not explained. The main character easily gains power and new abilities as required. I don't think it has been planned out. For example, at the start of the first book, the protagonist throws a rock at a group of cultists and they all die from some kind of having their souls sucked out. I don't think that will ever be explained. I feel the Author has made a promise to explain mysteries like this and there has been no progress.
The previous three books I gave five stars too. The storytelling has not decreased with this book, it's just that my frustrations with the protagonist is making me protest. At first I thought it was a thomas covenant situation , but it continues throughout all four books. . . The main character stagnated after the first book and appears to be perfectly content Staying that way. Even though he's on a prison planet And knows, he has enemies from the association, he is content to be As he is. To be fair, he does try to increase his knowledge and work on his abilities that he has, But he forgoes trying to learn any new abilities, forgoes opportunities to increase his level, and he appears to have no faith in his own power. Despite all of that , this is a good story , and I will continue reading it.
Well the continuing voyage of eli and his troubled wandering on another world, you have fights and learning plus hopefully some sexy ladies interested in our protagonist, let's hope he doesn't need a clue byfour to knock some sense into him. I think this series has way more potential and more story to come let's hope the author can write faster and publish quicker so we can all enjoy such a good story.
Well written but the glacial plot is tough to get through. I really enjoyed the first two books, but the last two felt like filler. The MC continues to not focus on getting stronger or preparing for the antagonist groups future actions. Most of book 3 and 4 are just side plots that do nothing for the MC or overall plot except delay any progress. At the end, dues ex is required to keep the MC alive and move to the next book.
Once I picked up this series, I had a lot of trouble putting it down. As soon as I finished one book in the series, I read the next one. Normally, by this point I would have stopped reading and found something else, no matter how good the series is. In this case, I cannot wait to read the next book.
I've really enjoyed this entire series and I am already looking forward to the next book. The world building is well done and the different magic types are all interesting as well.
This story of a guy going to a prison world with an alternate system than the great system is kind of weird. The corporation that run this system are actively harvesting something.
