I have a confession to make, up until tonight I'd never heard of Gregg Lewis. A book written in 1987 held little appeal to me, but I was curious. Why not read it? I am glad I did. "Caught" by Gregg Lewis is an action filled adventure about a young man named Tim, who travles to Amersterdam to find his 'real dad.' Things don't go as he plans. Okay, so maybe the action is a bit unlikely, but what do I know about Amsterdam or the eighties? It was a great story. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and would reccomend looking it up if you can. Raj was quite charming, in his naive way. I liked his amazment at everything "Western" and his puzzlment as to how India was somehow "third world." Polite, joyful, caring, we could all learn to be more like that.
This was an okay book. It had some very interesting parts and I liked the focus on the 2 main characters and how they kept crossing paths. But I did not think the Gospel was strong enough in it even though it was from Billy Graham's ministry. It kept saying things like, trying Jesus out to see if He worked for you, which is not Scriptural so I was disappointed. It also had some hard to read and graphic things in the book. Though it is realistic to real stories in life, it isn't a book I want to keep and pass on to kids.
