It was exciting to dive back into this world with book 2! Having enjoyed the first book in this series I looked forward to discovering what lay in store for the characters and how the world was going to expand.

Overall, this was a solid addition to the series. I enjoyed the ride it took me on and the addition of some new characters. I liked the development of the characters and exploring different types of relationships within the story. The plot was decently paced and kept me interested. While there were a few elements that didn’t work for me in this story, they didn’t fundamentally detrack from my enjoyment of the story. I have a little breakdown below of what worked and didn’t work for me if you want to check that out. But when all is said and done I’d give this book a 4 out of 5 stars.

Here is a snapshot of some elements I liked or didn’t like as much (trying to keep things as spoiler free as possible).

A few things I liked about the second installment:
-Good character exploration and development
-Interesting plot
-Intriguing antagonist with thoughtful attention to character background/motivations

Some things I didn’t like as much:
-Times where the character’s choices didn’t make sense and or felt rushed
-Moments where Lily’s experiences were a bit difficult to fully understand what was happening.
-I wanted more explanation/understanding about Lily and Alister’s connection.

If you are looking for a new adventure with some emotionally interesting characters and cool magic, then I recommend you check this series out!

The Otherworlds:Book two by RJ Kinner is part of The Otherworlds Series. I really enjoyed the first book so I was really excited to dig into this one. I’m a huge fan of fantasy books then with an added theme of sci-fi as well this was an instant like. I read the book in about a day, I was so invested in the story I didn’t want to put my kindle down. You do have to read the book before this to really experience this world as a whole plus this takes place after that. Not to mention I really liked how this book just added what was already built by the first book. I’m still a fan of Lily, maybe even more so in this book… I enjoyed where this story went and how we get to see how she’s dealing with the aftermath of her abilities. With her dealing with thoughts of being unsure of her choices. There were times I really felt myself gripping my kindle tight with suspense. This definitely took me on a rollercoaster of a ride. The worldbuilding was still on point and I found myself imagining everything that I was reading. The writing was really good and the plot moved at a steady and consistent pace. Overall I really enjoyed this book and I definitely recommend this book as it’s a great story.

This series just keeps getting better. There is a lot of action in this book and a great storyline. There’s twists, turn and betrayal. You learn more about some of the main characters and it’s anything but predictable. This is a truly great read and I hope there will be more in the series soon.
