This course is designed for teachers and trainee teachers preparing for the Cambridge ESOL Content and Language Integrated Learning test ( CLIL). It is ideal for both content and language teachers. Written by a CLIL expert in collaboration with Cambridge ESOL, this course covers the four key areas of the knowledge of CLIL and principles of CLIL, lesson preparation, lesson delivery and assessment. It will also be useful for anyone seeking an introduction to CLIL theory and practice. The TKT Course CLIL Module introduces teachers to the concepts and terminology central to CLIL and provides an introduction to its main theories, approaches and activities. Teachers are then encouraged to apply these to their own teaching contexts and analyse their usefulness to their own learners. Materials and activities are available which further develop and explore the topics introduced in the course.
Kay Bentley has taught learners and trained teachers in primary and secondary bilingual and CLIL European programmes since 1998. She has a Masters in Education and is a tutor and supervisor for an MA CLIL module. She has written articles, materials and books on CLIL and is chair of the University of Cambridge TKT: CLIL module.
(Reread more than once because tomorrow I have to take this test)
The aim of this book is to prepare for the Cambridge TKT CLIL module certification test. But it can be a good resource to those who want to know more about this methodology too. In my case, it didn't add much new knowledge because I was already familiar with CLIL and with teaching methodologies theories as well. But it was still good to refresh that knowledge for future lesson plans/tests I have to take.
It offers a general knowledge about the essentials of CLIL and explains what you should keep in mind to prepare CLIL lessons and to assess learners. It is a bit repetitive but it is organized well, so it can be a good place to start for teachers who don't know much about CLIL and want to use this in their classrooms.
