Where to start? This isnt my kind of book normally. I dont like coming of age tales or Stephen King like epics. This has elements of both but this one pulled me in though did think its a little longer than needed. It reminds me a lot of King's It but written better. It actually does well with the ending. Plus the comIng of age part at the beginning was interesting though the second part did feel a little of a slog for me. The third part is excellent and again I do believe Hylton nails the ending. Basically three friends are having fun ghost hunting only for them to find something scarier than any ghost. It was at a house that one of them had grew up in, always knowing something was there in the house. It starts a battle that will haunt them for years.

Highly recommended. Its masterfully written, my small complaints are just because of personal taste. Hylton wrote a book that normally I just wouldnt get into and made it a book that engrossed me. If this sounds like a book that is up your alley, you owe it to yourself to read this you will love it.

A solid novel, firmly entrenched in what the author calls "Appalachian Gothic" and a moniker that fits it. I would describe this as a great book if you're missing Stranger Things. Focusing more on supernatural themes than science fiction, it pits a group of young outcasts against an evil beyond their understanding. Moving forward years at a time, we keep rediscovering characters and how they've matured and changed along with "the Terror" and how it manifests itself. A great concept that hits home with its monster in the closet approach.

A Gothic horror story that I couldn't put down. I am not a person that likes to watch horror movies but love to read and took a chance to read "Terror of Black Valley". The story on ghost hunting and the demon that haunted these young teens kept me up reading into the late hour.
