Monty Python: The ideology of the Grotesque

Rate this book
This critique was written twenty years ago as part of a Media Studies Course I was then undertaking but given the ongoing Monty Python phenomena I thought it would be interesting to print it again. Of course, as an academic text it has a lot of the jargon in vogue at the time – I still have a laugh at my whiz through the psychologists – and certainly some of the Python films such as ‘The Life of Brian’ are classics and still relevant today – perhaps even more so now than then and certainly most of the television sketch shows now are very boring and repetitive when compared to the often brilliant innovations of the Python team. – ‘And now for something completely different’ was exactly that!
