Sequel to The Fire of Delayed Answers, this book contains devotional meditations upon the most glorious theme of all Scripture - the love of God. This book explores how God is igniting His Bride in this hour with His fiery love, awakening us to blazing passion for our Beloved Lord Jesus.
Bob Sorge is “the speaker who can’t talk”—that is, he is reduced to a whisper because of a debilitating vocal injury he suffered over 20 years ago. Through the journey, God has given him an empowering message that explores God’s purposes in fiery trials. It’s not the fire that changes you but your pursuit of God in the fire that changes you. Bob has a unique way of helping us process our journey so we stay in the race and overcome. Whether you’re reading one of his books or listening to him, you’re about to receive a message from the heart of God that will strengthen your faith and draw you into greater intimacy with Jesus.
I read this slowly as a devotional - rarely reading more than a chapter at a time. The chapters are generally only about 4-5 pages each. I had the opportunity several years ago to hear Bob speak at a conference. Vocal cord surgery gone wrong has left him with a voice of no more than a whisper which caused us all to pay close attention to what he was saying. And it was worth it. Since then I've read a number of his books and have enjoyed them all - as he's speaking out of what he has learned from his own experiences. This one speaks of the depth of God's love for us and the need to press in to that relationship. Those who make the effort will be rewarded. He states that if you want to have a revelation of God's love, get a revelation of the cross and Christ's sacrifice. The first section of the book spends several chapters on the cross. A later section spends several chapters on Song of Solomon showing how it is a picture of Christ's relationship with the Bride and the maturity of love that develops. This is not a book to be read quickly, but one to read slowing and ponder and pray through.
Bob Sorge takes you on a journey into the unlimited and immeasurable love of God for you. As a book, it is both a wake-up call to growing in intimacy with the Lord, and a realisation of the staggering love God has for us.
Incredibly challenging— pushing the reader to examine the level of humility they have in their life and how much they have “died to self.” The book progresses beautifully into a what a fully mature Bride of Christ should be like. I cried many wonderful tears in this book.
