The pace of progress has almost buried the memory of people who made a huge impact on life in Ireland and far beyond. Moira is a village that has, in many respects, influenced change on several continents. This little volume is an attempt to follow the footprints of some who walked here in days gone by. Some were residents and others were visitors; some came to destroy life and some came to improve it; a few were extremely wealthy aristocrats but many laboured in extreme poverty; some lie today in impressive vaults but thousands lie in unmarked graves.
