Stolen By The Sheikh

In life and love, it’s never too late for a second chance. . .
This is not one of those times.

Fiercely independent contemporary artist, Lucy Ford was absolutely content with her life—until the day Anwar na Hassir strolled into her gallery and back into her life. She had dreamed of being a mother and would soon have a son. Being a single mum wasn’t the happy ending she had visualised, but at least she had someone to love. Someone of her own. Someone she could keep forever.

As long as the child’s father never found out. Anwar could not, would not, must not ever know the truth. Not if she was to keep her child. A widower with two daughters, Anwar was as formidable as Lucy was freewheeling.

Luring Lucy to his desert Kingdom, somewhere between the magic of the desert and the stroll along the ocean, she lets him steal her heart. Only to discover, love once given, can never be returned. A sensuous tale of modern love, career-crossed relationships, the heady magic of instant attraction, loss, and the unwavering faith that sustains them—even in the darkest hour.

Stolen by the Sheikh by Mollie Matthews Book Review

Secrets. “Sheikh Anwar na Hassir. The formidable playboy bachelor who's baby she now carried.” What happens when the two meet again?

They have both had a hard past, being constantly let down by their parents.

I can feel the hurt and the love between them. I'm really rooting for this couple from early on.

The past comes back up to challenge them. Driven by wanting her to pay for her deception.

Enemies to lovers trope. It's almost comical how Lucy want's nothing to do with Anwar. Meanwhile
Maria is trying to set them up with “Soft Classical Music.” Oops.

“True wealth, he affirmed, lay not in material opulence but in the beauty discovered in unexpected places.” This is so true.

What happens when the truth comes out. A proposal. Will she accept his terms?

A desire to bring peace.

Shout out to Zephyr the Bird who has been a great companion to Anwar.

Lucy feels trapped in what will be a loveless marriage.

Can they help heal each other? Or is it all too much?

“True growth always involves some loss. Loss of the old self. To encourage growth on a tree, we prune away dead and broken branches.” This is so true. Mollie highlights just how hard it is to let go and how pasts can really hurt us.

Someone from a previous book makes an appearance and I loved how the characters connected effortlessly and how their stories weren't so different.

Anwar want's to celebrate women's art. This is so important but has Leah been hurt to much to want to be a part of it? “51% of the world's official artists are women, yet they make up less than a quarter of the artists exhibited in public museums.” This is shocking.

The realist meets the romantic.

Mollie highlights the role that Tariq will pass onto Salim: To rule the kingdom one day and how strict it really is for them. Lucy just want's her son to feel loved. Will this clash affect them?

“With time and effort and love, healing is possible.” Isn’t that beautiful? Forgiveness is important and powerful in the ending. It teaches us not to hold on to things to be able to move on. Lucy shows so much character development. She becomes her best self, expressing herself,  her pain, her life and her found happiness through her art. A surprise at the end.

Stolen

This contemporary love story was written well. From a ripped out heart due to lies and the lover who decided to allow his family to force him to join them in destroying her career her life. Forced her back into a country who would place her in jail if they knew she was back in their country. For him it was about total control.

This was about two people who grew up with families that showed no love, empathy nor respect. therefore, creating two people either over compensated to be accepted or facts to compensate.

'A swoon-worthy second chance, forced proximity, secret baby, billionaire sheikh Christmas romance you'll love.'

The plot was intriguing and well thought out. World building was excellent and solidly drawn. The characters carried the story and they were very compelling and complex and complicated and perfectly steamy together. Thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend.

He lost her once, and now he discovers he has a son. Lucy is afraid to trust Anwar again; she built her life on her own, she's an artist, and she doesn't want to depend on anyone again. If, like me, you love alpha/magnetic heroes who move heaven and earth for the heroine, and heroines who fight before they surrender, this is the perfect book for you.

Enthralling

This author uses language in such an enthralling manner. I found myself drawn into the story she has created. I became so immersed in the beautiful world she crafted, that I've bought more books from the series.

“True growth always involves some loss. Loss of the old self.”

This is the first book I have read by the author, and it is packed with beautiful imagery combined with powerful messages that are needed in the world we are currently living in. Lucy and Sheikh Anwar are from two completely different worlds and unfortunately, it was not a kind world to Lucy when she was unceremoniously cast out under some false accusations against her character. Not one to wallow, Lucy picks herself up and finds a new path which leads her back into Sheikh Anwar’s world.

“But, like the arid landscape of your heart, despite being so thirsty, you’ve forgotten that you need gifts to water your soul too.”

As the two reconnect, their journey is one of learning and healing past traumas that will resonate with anyone who has dealt with heartbreak, abandonment, family expectations and more. There are expressions of tools one can use to help cope with the stressors that one deals with in daily life that are forgotten when one feels overwhelmed that are offered as something new or as a reminder to ground oneself.

“Art has taught me again and again how to move on and to begin anew. Sometimes you’ve got to let everything go-purge yourself of the things, people, and circumstances weighing you down. Tina Turner once said, ‘If you are unhappy with anything…whatever is bringing you down, get rid of it.’” Words to live by.

Overall, this is one moving read that will hold you captivated in its thrall and propel you to reading more in this world/series.

STOLEN BY THE SHEIKH by Mollie Mathews held my interest from the start. There is a depth to the characters and the story. This is a second chance romance that has a slow build but is worth the wait. I like that some of the characters have been in other books I’ve read but is easily a stand alone.

With a good flow and beautiful descriptions and visuals I could feel the heat in more ways than one. There are doubts, questions and misunderstandings in the desert which was a perfect backdrop for the story. Art played a major role and added another layer to the story. I enjoyed the ending and it gave me the closure I look for.

Heartfelt story of narcissistic families who shatter their own children. The hopes and desires of the next generation will reign. The emotional ups and downs of the artist - unworthiness, betrayal, anger, lust, love, forgiveness, will have your heart yearning for an HEA. The Sheikh must move beyond his brother's accusations against his artist to find love.
