When Virgil's Little Chapel of the Cosmos, located on the idyllic Lagrange Colony PRAXIS, ends up with one corpse too many, Lt. Daisy Wong, Space Marshal, investigates. The extra corpse turns out to be part of a shipment of corpses. They are the grim result of a mining disaster at the Pork Chop Mine, situated in the hill country above Noxygen on Mars. Daisy and her sidekick, Officer Muffy Chatterjee, soon uncover a dangerous web of drug smuggling, greed, hijacked shipments, and revenge. At the center of it all is Connie Nine Pipes, ruthless tong boss and Daisy's beloved and revered uncle. Although Lt. A case that has an overdose victim and a corpse that hasn't been accounted for. The two women are sent to the playground of the rich and famous. A fire has claimed a hundred victims but when they arrived at the funeral parlour there were a hundred and one. Now one of the morticians has gone missing leaving behind his stash of opium. Daisy as a fellow addict knows that there is no way he would be without a supply. Finding the mortician now is easy as is getting him to talk.
