Poor Daisy, with the new rent raise, which will make things difficult, but, when it rains it pours. She has been asked to do a cake testing for a bride. Not just any bride, but a bride of a wealthy family. All excited, she and Zoe head to the address given. They put out the samples, hoping the bride will choose one of their cakes. The bride, a bit of a bridezilla, tastes the cakes, complains of not feeling well, drops dead. All there, family and other vendors, instantly look at Daisy. True to small town gossip, Daisy finds herself a persona non grata to the town. Evil glares and a [pesky reporter hunt her down. She has to find out who poisoned the bride before she has to shut her doors for good. The brides brother William seems to help, even be smitten with Daisy. Will he be able to save the day? Will Daisy solve the murder? This is a book worth reading. A real page turner.

Daisy Wallace , Witch and Bakery owner extraordinaire. Daisy and partner in crime are excited to be asked to cater for a wealthy Bride’s family . The bride in question is a tad demanding to say the least. But did she deserve to drop dead from the tasting? Well the proverbial has just hit and it’s up to Daisy to hold her ground and hide her frown because she will get to the bottom of this…She HAS to. With a dodgy reporter and other vendors all looking on it’s not looking good but she must hold on . An unassuming Ally in William , from a most unexpected place gets them on the right path to win this race…I mean find the culprit and save the day. Motley is a great familiar too. Well written , great quips and awesome descriptions.

This book is an absolute gem that I highly recommend picking up. From start to finish, it's a captivating page-turner that kept me hooked until the very end. As the debut installment of a brand new series by Corrine Winters, it's a delightful addition to her repertoire.

Filled with charm and intrigue, this cozy murder mystery introduces readers to a cast of endearing characters and an effortlessly engaging writing style. I found myself completely absorbed in the story, making it difficult to set the book down even for a moment.

Creole Catnip Conundrum is book #1 in the Cozy New Orleans series by Corrine Winters.

Daisy Wallace owns a bakery and gets a huge opportunity to make a name for herself, until the bride drops dead after a cake tasting. I like Motley, Daisy’s familiar. I give anything set in New Orleans a try and the fact it has in bakery with beignets is a plus. Daisy is a witch, but this book was very light on magic. I like the ending with Motley and plan to read the next book.

I know from reading another series by this author that sometimes there’s a teaser at the end for the next book, but since this is a brand new series, I can’t just borrow the next quickly on KU. I enjoyed meeting the key characters: Daisy, William and Zoe and of course, Motley the cat who came in extremely handy at the showdown. William was such a sweetie and I hope despite something that occurred at the end that he and Daisy can build a good friendship. I’m definitely eager to read the next book!

Beignets and Betrayal

I enjoyed this book although I'm usually not a big fan of romance in a cozy mystery. The reveal did surprise me and I usually figure out the killer fairly quickly. So I will look for the series to continue. Daisy is the woman we all wanted to grow up to become, hardworking, loyal and a fierce believer in justice. But competing for star of the book is the beignet loving ginger cat, Motley. Looks like they will be quite the pair.
