About the author

Charles Haddon Spurgeon (1834-1892) was England's best-known preacher for most of the second half of the nineteenth century. In 1854, just four years after his conversion, Spurgeon, then only 20, became pastor of London's famed New Park Street Church (formerly pastored by the famous Baptist theologian, John Gill). The congregation quickly outgrew their building, moved to Exeter Hall, then to Surrey Music Hall. In these venues, Spurgeon frequently preached to audiences numbering more than 10,000—all in the days before electronic amplification. In 1861, the congregation moved permanently to the newly constructed Metropolitan Tabernacle.

This is the most pastoral book on the Holy Spirit. Instead of long words, theological terms, big sentences, and hard to understand content, Spurgeon breaks down the Third Person of the Trinity so beautifully in a heart-moving and perfectly biblical way! He writes this book to the simple comprehension of a young believer, to the lay person in the congregation, to the broken-hearted heathen seeking to find rest. The content is hugely practical and he urges you to immediately put the knowledge into practice. I adore this book and highly recommend to refresh your love and renew your passion for the Holy Spirit.

What's not to like about Spurgeon, his theology, his writing, his personality, his passion. There is much to be learned and embraced of The Holy Spirit. This small work makes inroads to filling that vacancy.
