If you don't know anything about Oracle and you want to start learning by using XE, then this is the first book to use to get started. This book only enables you to start up and give you some basics. However, if you have no RDBMS experience then you may find this a little too brief.

The author has used Windows's installation of XE for his examples, which first time users may find a little confusion occasionally because the path etc differs between Windows and Linux. But this only the case where physical file system layout related examples are concerned. For queries executed on SQL prompt it's all the same, well mostly.
