Chronicles of Armageddon : Book 1

Rate this book
Leah is just a nineteen-year-old trying to lead a normal life. All hope for normal is shattered, however, when, shortly after her brother's death at the claws of a pack of giant ratlike Dernin, she is rescued from the same fate by Merion and Prince Keniv, two magical beings from another world, and taken to their dimension, a place called Armageddon. Here is a world of fantasy, a world of elves, dwarves, unicorns, and dragons — a world where an epic battle for the domination of all Creation, including Earth, is taking shape. But can the forces dedicated to the Creator defeat the Enemy? Or will the Evil One and his minions overwhelm them? In The Chronicles of Book I, Heather Ann Peterson creates a world of incredible detail as well as a story on the meaning of perseverance, dedication, and the eternal struggle between good and evil.

This book was interesting, and I'm quite surprised there's not much feedback behind this book. To be honest, it's much better than some other fantasy books I've read, although this isn't the best. Another thing I'm confused about is why this claims it's the first book, yet has no sequel. Maybe because of the lack of reception?
This book is about the fantasy world of Armageddon in which Leah and her friend Kelson is thrust into after monsters that killed Leah's brother attempt to kill her as well. Prince Keniv, her future husband, saves her and protects her throughout her journey. Leah has possession of the Gift, which is a power that allows mind reading among other abilities.
Although this book was good, there were some problems with the book. For one, it seemed at many parts unnecessarily obscene, which sort of ruined the flow of the entire book. Surrounded by eloquent elves, and all Leah does is swear. It does get better (sort of) but it still is a bit jarring whenever Leah speaks dirty.
The book explored the concept of evil against goodness in a way not really done by other books, and good and bad are clearly delineated within the book-one agents of chaos and destruction, literally seeking the destruction of Earth and other worlds, and the other force of goodness, trying to repel the evil and save the world. It seems to me that there are no so called "gray area" characters here-strictly only good or bad, noting that bad language does not necessarily count as evil.
Even with a few things the book could've done better without, it was relatively good, and I am still shocked that so little people have read this. I strongly recommend it; everyone is missing out on a unique novel.

Leah is an ordinary girl living a normal life when her brother is violently murdered. Searching for answers about his death, Leah is confronted with a pack of ratlike creatures called Dernin. She is rescued by Merion, a mage, who takes her through a portal into a dimension full of fantastical creatures and an epic battle. She must decide if she will fight for the Creator or turn her back and let the Evil One and his minions overtake the land.

This book is full of adventure and fantasy. Peterson creates detailed characters and her descriptions bring the fantastical world of Armageddon to life for the reader. The plot may not be a new one, as it revolves mainly around the struggle of good versus evil, but it is a fresh look into the journey of a heroine that many readers are able to relate to. Chronicles of Armageddon reads like a more mature version of Chronicles of Narnia. I recommend it for fans of fantasy and sci-fi literature.
