The Village #2

Goblins: Keep Out!

Rate this book
It turns out that this world is far from simple. The sharp-toothed rabbits around the village were thought to be the greatest enemy at first. But then came the squirrels… The humans dealt with them too and things seemed to be going well until–surprise!–the wolves appeared.

As enemies grow in number, there is finally a light at the end of the tunnel. Another sapient race! Perhaps the humans can ally with the goblins and build a future together. After all, a job shared is a job halved! Or it would be, but nobody knows if the goblins actually want this alliance. And there might be other intelligent species inhabiting this world…

There story went from okay to terrible so fast I felt whiplash.
Simply put, the writing isn't that good. The stats are inconsistent. The plots are contrived. The characters are pretty flat and the world building is not there. Still I liked the first book because it had the kind of MC I like to read. He was a lone wolf. He fought, took risks, got lucky, made sacrifices and did everything he could to get stronger than everyone else.
Well, everything I liked, everything that made me ok with how bad the writing was, went out the window in this book.
The MC became an idiot. He didn't do a single fight/mission/action by himself. (Despite having a title-bonus when fighting alone). He started getting subtly held back while others caught up to him. Most notably, some girl boss starts soaring up to his level (with no explanation given as to how). Completely inexplicably, he started giving away his rewards from fights to some girl. Dude. I get you might be thirsty but ffs this survival time and you're an idiot.
Anyway, definitely not reading any further in the series.

I received a review copy of this book.
Goblins Keep Out! is the second book in this series, and if you read the first one, you'll probably enjoy this one as well. New enemies, More newbies, and other reveals make this book a must read if you're keeping up with the series. We find out there's worse things than rabbits and squirrels. Also, what's to be done about the severe lack of metal to make weapons? Fun stuff, and answers to questions you didn't know to ask. I really liked this one, and I suspect most LitRPG fans will as well.

Ohhhh myyy! That was funtastic... I really like this action-based storyline. We follow Nicolas and Anna as they manage to work out the intricacies of the system and manage to live with it, while gaining levels and strength. If all goes well they can both help, and receive benefits from the village too! But first there's monsters to kill, plenty of 'em too, because of their boundless ability to respawn! And that's not all either, there's actually monster waves to contend with and now there's Goblins! Ohhhh and remember that egg Nicolas received as a reward in bk1 wellll it hatched and the cutest little hedgehog popped out, just adorable. And a frightful beast companion it is! Named Hedgie...
One thing bugged me was the overuse of the term boy. Not a huge deal though. It certainly won't stop me from enjoying the next book, Orcs Keep Out!!!
So yeah go grab the book and enjoy!

Great light entertainment

I loved the introduction of the new adorable pet. The plot is interesting thoughI still think that the mass attacks on the village is way too excessive.

Criticism and comments:

The constant use of the term "the guy" instead of the protagonist's name is aggravating.

Maybe i am old fashioned but the use of the pronoun "they" to refer to someone (singular) makes me sick, especially if this someone is a he in the next sentence...

It is a bit sad that the introduced races seem to be rather stereotypical..

A good second book in a series.

I liked the first book in this series. The second book is a continuation of the story from the first.
There are some minor translation issues, yet it is an understandable and easy read. The minor issue is that there seems to be an over abundance of exclamation points. It’s technically correct, but not often seen in stories similar to this.
I’m looking forward to the next in the series!

Its got all you want. Adventures in the woods, gathering resources, finding loot, etc. Plus the town building and community.

good Russian English story

It is interesting to note the cultural differences that the Russians authors have. Ideas and preconceptions as well as stories from childhood.

A great second book in the series! The entire village is now in the mode to level up as much as possible. Bunnies, wolves, squirrels, goblins and orcs! Oh my!

Book two

Okay I know I read this 1 as an arc. I thought I had posted a review I guess I didn't.
Look it's not gonna win any awards, It's not a great work of fiction that will change your life.
What it is is a pretty good way to spend a few hours not having to worry about reality.
Go on an adventure. Be a super competent Knows better than anybody else Adventure and townlord. You'll have a very pliant female companion. Every body thinks that you are the pinnacle of humanity. And despite that it's still a fun good read.
It's worth spending a day reading, especially if it's raining Or you're waiting in an airport lounge.
