After an excavation disaster, everyone departed their own ways… Well except for Lara. The Temple of Karnak is fairly close to The Valley of the Kings and she has always wanted to explore the area. She never expected her trip to be cut short by a cobra in need of rescuing… Or so she thought. After biting one of Lara’s obsessive flings, he decides to speak to her, revealing secrets long forgotten, causing her to panic. Why is she scared of a talking cobra? Could it be the secret fantasies about him shes been having, or the fact he says only she can break his curse? After learning that the Egyptian Gods are in fact real, she should be prepared for anything. Or so you would think. As if finding out he is a God isn’t hard enough to handle. He leaves her just like everyone else did. Leaving her exposed and kidnapped, starved, and abused on another excavation, to find something that may not even exist. Will she find this treasure before she dies? Who will save her? ------------------------------- This book contains adult themes that includes abuse, violence, blood, murder, and possible rape. Including and not limited to monster lovin’, fated love and explicit sexual scenes. If you have any triggers, please consider my warning. This book is intended for an adult audience.

I really loved this story so much! I'm not leaving any spoilers, so feel free to continue reading on. What I loved most about this book was the setting, characters, drama, Romance, and the authors writing style. All those characteristics of the book were on point! I will totally be recommending this book to my friends and family, and well, everyone, honestly. I'm am so excited to read more of Shelly's books! I can't wait eeeekkk!!! I especially loved the suspense I went through with the cliffhanger at the end.
I had a very simple idea of what this book was about going into it... woman, Egypt, snake, Gods and there was spice, it definitely was a bit of a mental journey. Lara is our main character who does not have the best of luck with people, her experiences and introversion made her very relatable and down to earth to read about. The build up of her and Pohs relationship was done really well, even when he was just a small snake the author managed to create a believable bond between the two, it was an an enjoyable case of independent FMC and misunderstood MMC. I don't personally know a lot about ancient Egypt or the gods so at first i was a little confused about who everyone was but the author does a good job of giving enough background and information that it didn't take too long to catch up and i feel like i also learnt a fair amount about Ancient Egypt in the process of reading. If you want a book that's a little different, wholesome and intriguing i'd recommend this one.
Oh hot damn this book did not disappoint! The first book was absolutly amazing, but lord Shelly through everything but the kitchen sink at this one. For Starter i never thought i would ever look at a snake with anything but disgust, well i was wrong after reading this book. It was a quick read, and very well written. The scenes were built up and executed perfectly. The Egyptian mythology in the book was explained and wrote great. I loved the fast paced action in the book as well as the romance and spice. I wanna spoil the heck out of it but i can’t it is too good to do that. This is a book deserves to be read by everyone. This series just keeps getting better and better. I am so glad i read it cause i was missing some seriously amazing reads.
This has me thinking again what I have always said. Villans are not born they are created through a lot of different situations. The drama action and Romance here won't disappoint you it's really a good story, especially if you like a good dark romance. I have always loved Egyptian mythology, and this just left me in awe. Plus, this author put so much information that it's simply amazing! I recommend it to anyone who loves fantasy mythology and dark romance. You won't regret it.
"My Gods!" This was a great book! The spice was spicing. The dialogue was perfect. The snake scenes...well hot dang. Never thought I'd want a slithery slithery to come near me. I also enjoyed the beginning with Todd. Bravo!
If you like god romances and have gone down the Greek gods may introduce you to the Egyptian gods! This is book 2 in the series and I love that Lara meets the God in an unexpected way. She is kind and gets rewarded. 🐍🐍 I also love the FMC and how she is portrayed. She id my favorite of the series!
I love all things Egypt. And I love when the “bad guy”gets the girl. Trying to not to give spoilers but I will say a certain death was most welcome!!! I’m also hanging off the cliff at the end.
Another amazing read! The fighting, protection, real family issues on both sides, the hiding, and the way they come together. Breaking curses is amazingly done in both books, now I can't wait for book 3
I don't read a lot of fantasy so it was a welcome surprise. I'm also very interested in mythology so the the setting of the story with egyptian mythology being a theme really brought me in. My favorite thing about the story was the relationship between Poh and Lara. You have a very misunderstood and poorly treated MMC that you slowly fall in love with because of how doting and protective he becomes over Lara. It's definitely a touch a hair on her body and I'll kill you type of trope which I liked because there were many characters that deserved some major revenge. The writer did a fantastic job writing a story with suspense, action, good banter, and spice. I'd highly recommend this author!
Another fantastic booker from Shelly Shoemaker! This book picked up right where the first one left off. Lara was in the temple with Sabi when everything went down so she knows everything is real. She hangs around the area to visit a different temple and things take a strange turn for her. She finds a talking cobra and things get crazier from there! I loved this story even more than the first! And we even get a little teaser for book 3 at the end! It sounds like it’s going to be amazing as well! I am 100% LOVING this series! I cannot WAIT for book 3!!!
I wanted to give this author another try to see if there was any improvement, and unfortunately I found none. The story concept was good and unique in my opinion, but the writing is still awful. I would strongly recommend an editor, I think this story could be much better with some (or a lot of) adjustments.
The writing prose is very candid. I lo Ed that the relationship shop feels more natural, not instant love/obsession. I love the mix of sarcasm and snark the characters have. MC is not a damsel, just sometimes needs some help. Both characters are introverted and it's refreshing. I.did not expect nuclear to be an option so when nuclear was the option I was giddy. I love the nuclear option. 'Touch her and die' trope is present!
