Peter Maddocks was an English cartoonist. Maddocks contributed to many of the United Kingdom's leading daily and Sunday national papers with cartoon series such as Four D. Jones in the Daily Express in the late 1950s and early 1960s. He also created children's animated series for the BBC in the 1980s, including The Family-Ness, Penny Crayon and Jimbo and the Jet-Set, and The Caribou Kitchen for ITV in the 1990s. He continued with many more publications through cartoons and short stories.

His pipe sets his beard on fire, and burns a hole in Mrs. Claus's new rug. The benefit is that Santa gives up smoking and passes along his pipe to a snowman.
