Treetops is the Oxford Reading Tree series of fiction with built-in progression for pupils aged seven to 11. Specially written for children who need the support of carefully monitored language levels, this story, entitled Grace the Pirate, seeks to be accessible, motivating and humorous. The series is organized into Oxford Reading Tree stages (from stage ten to stage 14), with each stage introducing more complex narrative forms, including: flashbacks and changes in viewpoint; descriptive writing; extended reading vocabulary; and more pages, more text, and fewer illustrations. Each stage is supported by the Teacher's Guide, which offers guidance on using Treetops to assess children's reading ability, and includes a variety of activities, many on photocopiable sheets.

James Riordan (10 October 1936 – 10 February 2012) was an English novelist, broadcaster, sports historian, association football player and Russian scholar.
Well known for his work Sport in Soviet Society, the first academic look at sport in the Soviet Union, and for his children's novels.
This book is very good. It describes the characters very well. If you miss the first page the whole book doesn’t make sense. This book is written well and I will rate 4 out of 5 stars because if it is a non-fiction book it is better if it has a contents page. It also seems like the author has written it as a fiction book when it is non-fiction.
Grace Barry. Age 15. Grace is with the pirates. But girls aren't alowed ont the ship. So we shall kill her. But she ended up on an island. she wasn't staving to death. So can she get rescued?
This book was about a wild girl called Grace that was captured by pirates and they put her on a desert island. There she found a skeleton and a treasure so she took the treasure and buried the bones. The pirates were attacked by Navy. They returned with Grace and made her captain. They battled Navy and won. I liked it because it was long and well explained so that I could imagine it.

Great job reading of. Your example shows that you can always be brave if you believe in what you are doing. Just as Grace coped with an unusual situation calmly and fearlessly, so can you be brave when trying something new or when something looks hard. Remember, being brave is an opportunity to make mistakes and learn from them. Believe that you can do anything you set your mind to! Love, Mom and Dad
