Two 18-year-old guys, George and Charlie, find they are room-mates in their first term at Cambridge… And everything kicks off from that moment. The companion piece to Gay Romance at Oxford, this is the lightest – and sexiest – of McDonald’s gay romance series to date. Farcically raunchy, raunchily farcical, there is even a not-to-be-taken-seriously spy story entangled in its plot. But for all its apparent silliness, it is an honest story about growing up and – like the rest of the series – it shows a more thoughtful side when it comes to the quirky mysteries of love.

Life is sketchy when young and memory when old.

Although for some, family comes first, for many others it is friends that are most important. A select few manage to get under your skin and into your head and heart. Yet there is always more nearby that are connected by similarity and contrast of traits and colors.

Searching for the right and only one is often a long and challenging process. Even if you share a room and the highlights of your life for a while, it is difficult to know that it is the one. Only by trial and error, sharing and daring, hang on to each other as more important and real than protecting your country does the experiences of life together glue you together through it.

Rowing is a challenging sport. Spying is a dangerous pastime. Sketching friends nude for money may seem excessive, but it points out the emotions of people with nothing hidden. Hugs and kisses are good, but love is so much better.

Loved it. Another book of Anthony's that you have a job to put down once you start reading.

'Cam Cox' (Gay Romance, Book 7) by Anthony McDonald

Consummate writer that he is, McDonald has again impressed me with these tales of British college students and the tangled web of their lives! Great descriptions of whatever is going down in the moment, so much so that I actually felt like I was right there, experiencing the joys and sadness right along with our guys. Heady stuff!

And, I believe I've said it elsewhere, but...the way McDonald, who is one of my favorite authors, writes about locations like the atmosphere is yet another character in the storyline. Lush in detail, I feel like I could just reach my hand out, and feel the tastes and textures of each moment!

At times funny and other times heartbreaking, the tales of these characters are absolutely wonderful.

Two thumbs up! 👍👍

Admittedly it kept turning me on, but at the end of the day it just got a bit repetitive. In a way everything was all just too sweet or fun or perfect. There was no darkness to provide a contrast, no real anxiety, no real tension, no unpleasant characters. Everything (and everyone) was just too easy. I'll still give it four stars because it did provide plenty of enjoyment. But as a novel it just leaves something to be desired.
