The FIRST book written of ghost encounters of American Indians written by an American Indian! These are not second hand accounts, but are personal experiences told to the author by present day individuals who have witnessed spirits, and horrific hauntings throughout the southwest states of Arizona, California, Colorado, and New Mexico. Each page will offer the reader a journey of personal exploration into the spiritually sacred and privileged world known only to Native Americans.AMERICAN INDIAN GHOST STORIES OF THE WEST is unlike any other book. Make no mistake, this first of its kind book is definitely unlike no other!
Actually spooky, like I-won't-read-alone-at-night spooky. Learned a lot about Tribal culture, especially the views on the paranormal and spirituality--fascinating stuff.
There were about a dozen stories in this book that really captured the attention and left a spooky feeling. The rest of the stories were repetitive and bland (think second or third hand accounts of moving objects and loud noises.) I was almost ready to put the book down and give it away after the first 4 or 5 stories. I was glad I didn't whenever I came to a gem however. A few stories of note were Robert Red Sky's Hualapai story, Sofita Becera's Hispanic story, Nicanor Domingo's Hispanic story, Carol Jean Brafford's Lakota story and Ralph Covinton's Anglo story.
Good stories with a strong emphasis on respect for ghostly encounters. The author also writes about the history of the places he has obtained the stories from. These are experiences that real people have had and that makes this an interesting read.
